Henry Roger Wolcott, Colorado pioneer mining man, civil war veteran and philan thropist, died Tuesday in Honolulu, according to a cable received here. He was 75 years old and unmarried. Born in Longmeado'w, Mass., March 15, 1846, Mr. Wolcott began life as a bank clerk in Cleveland, re signing to enlist in the Cleveland regiment in the civil war. After the war he begen a commercial business career in Springfield, Mass., later go ing to Chicago and then transferred his interests to the then' booming west, coming to Colorado in 1869 to engage in mining. For many years he was a director of the Equitable Life Insurance com pany of New York and was promi nent in club circles of Denver, New York, Boston and Washington. Mr. Wolcott has a sister, Miss Clara Gertrude Wolcott, in Boston and a brother, Herbert Walker Wol cott, in Buffalo. Commercial vehicles in England are paying nearly one-half the mo tor taxation of that country. 260 Midshipmen to Receive Diplomas From President Annapolis, June 1. Two hundred and sixty midshipmen will receive diplomas of graduation from Presi dent Harding at commencement ceremonies at the naval academy Thursday. This was determined after the merit rolls were made up as a result of the final examinations completed a few days ago. Clement F. Cotton, appointed from Cali fornia, is shown to be the ."honor" man of the class, and next highest in order of merit is William L, Dry head, appointed from Iowa. Prominent Civil Engineer Of Los Angeles Kills Self Pasadena, June 1. Homer C. Wheeler, 42, a civil engineer of Los Angeles and Pittsburgh, Pa., was found dead near here today by two, boys hunting rabbits. A bottle by his side was said to have contained poison. ; Before going to Los Angeles, Mr, Wheeler, according to a brothci there, was an engineer with a Pitts burgh bridge company.
