Lincoln Girls Slart on .
Walk to California
Lincoln, June 1. (Special.) Mis
Nell Aylward and Miss Jennie Bry
den left Lincoln at 3 today to walk:
to Los Angeles. Both are Lincoln
girls. Before leaving they pre
sented an autobiography book ta
Governor McKelvie for his signature.
Their plan is to obtain the signatures
of as many notables as possible on
their trip to the coast.
Governor Will Go East to
Confer on Capitol Plan!
Lincoln, June 1. (Special.) Gov-:
ernor McKelvie will leave tomorrow
for Washington and New York City
where he will confer with Architect
Goodhue on plans for Nebraska's
new state house. There he will meet
Walter VV. Head of Omaha, a mem
ber of the capitol commission.
It is estimated that more than 2,000
chorus girls in London are without
work.
AT THE
THEATERS
AMONG the virtues of "39 East,"
which is the attraction offered by
the Princess Players at tho Hran
dols theater during the current weelt,
not tho least Is the completeness and
elaborateness of the stage settings. Per
haps the mot noteworthy of tho three
settings Is that of the second act which
reproduces a cove of Central Park which
the young lovers come for their little
meeting away from the prying eyes at
the boarding house. The coloring, the
flowers, the lighting all help to create
the atmosphere of "woodsinoss" which
greets the audience at tho rise of the
curtain. Such settings are worthy of any
production that a stock company Is able
in one short week to produce bo complete
and artistic a ahow la Indeed noteworthy.
The credit for such splendid work falls
to William J. Mack, the director of the
company. This is the first time that
"39 East," Constance Binncy's success
of last season, has been seen In Omaha.
A musical fantasy entitled "Fickle
Frolics" comes as the stellar act of tha
new show opening at the Empress today.
It Is to be presented by a cast of five
pretty girls and two comedians who are'
to offer a mixture of songs, dances snd
clean humor together with a dazzling as
sortment of gowns and scenlo surround
ings. In an offering called "Snappy
Songs and Sayings," Wild and Sedalia
are to present an act of class, ability and
versatility. Will and Gladys Ahearn will
appear in a rope spinning, chatter and
dancing offering which promises much in
the way of entertainment. Completing
the vaudeville program are Hill and
Crest who will be seen In a comedy
playlet called "Naturalization," which is
said to be one of the most laughable of
the year.
