Houghton en tertained at dinner Tuesday evening with a party of friends at Olive Crest, newly opened country hotel, t three miles north of Benson. Dr. II. if. Fitzgibbons, with a par ty of six, breakfasted at Olive Crest Sunday morning. Ivd Moore was host at dinner Sunday evening to Mr. and Mrs. George Brandeis, Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Kinslcr, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Louis ami Mr. and Mrs. William Schnoor. E. John Bran deis entertained at Sunday dinner; also Harry Koch and his mother, and Dr. and Mrs. L. A. Dtrmody. Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Bixby were among the Memorial day diners at Olive Crest. Loyal Cobn was host to a party of six Monday evening. The Omaha Walking club break- tasted Monday morning at this country place. Creche Benefit. More than 200 reservations were made for the 14th annual bridge party given for the benefit of the Creche association, a well known ' charity, Tuesday afternoon at the Country club. Among those who reserved ta bles were: Mesdames C. T. Kountze, Sam Caldwell. Ben Ross, L. F. Crofoot, W. J. Foye, W. A. C. Johnson, 11. H. Baldrige, Lenore Dietz Nelson, R. B. Elliott, G. Party for Freshmen. The faculty for the freshman class of the University of Omaha School of Law entertained members of the class at a dancing party at Hap py Hollow club Tuesday evening. A surprise party was given Thurs day eveninc in honor of Misses Mae Kieschl and Anna Weiss, both from Minneapolis, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Meidlinger, where they have been visiting. Those present were Messrs. Senior Play Lead I Personals Miss Maude Poff has one of the leading roles, that of Mrs. Hiram Perkins, in the Central High school senior play to be presented Friday and Saturday evening of this week at the school auditorium. "Mary Jane's Pa" is the comedy which will be presented. Miss Poff may attend the Univer sity of Cniaha next year, continuing also her study of the violin. Chinese Proverbs. Hurried men lack wisdom. Mrs. Harold Estey of Boston, who has been vising at ihe D. C. Brad ford home, left Tuesday for the east. Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Langan are building a cottage at Lake Okoboji, Iowa, which they will occupy later in the season. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Tompkins will leave Wednesday evening for New York City, where they will spend the summer. Mrs. Glenn Mason and son of Lin coln motored to Omaha Monday with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gaddis, at whose home they are guests. Mre R R Davis left Mondav eve ning for Rochester, Minn., where she will underco an oneration. She was accompanied by Dr. Davis. Mrs. J. P. Cleland is visiting her son, Joseph P. Cleland, who gradu ates tbi wepk from the Komner Military school at Boonville, Mo. i Mr. and "Mrs. S. M. Davis are vis iting their nephew, George Lathrop, who graduates this week from the Kemper Military school at Boon ville, Mo. Miss Nell Dugher arrived in Oma ha Monday from Chicago to visit her parents, M. and . Mrs. Thomas Dugher. She will return to Chicago Thursday evening. The Misses Ruth and Helen Nolan and Irene Barmettler will spend part of the summer at Lake Okoboji, where they will be the house guests of Mrs. Cyril Langan. Mrs. C. C. Morgan and daughter, Marion, leave about July 1 to spend the summer at Hot Springs, S. D. The Morgan twins, Catherine and Elizabeth, will leave at the same time for Camp Pottawattamie, on Gull lake, Michigan. A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Charles P. Hayes in New York City, according to Word received today by Mr. Hayes' mother, Mrs. Charles W. Hayes, of Omaha. Mrs. Hayes and her sisters, Miss Susan Paxton and Miss Ruth Paxton, who arrives in Omaha next week from China, where she spent the past four years in Y. W. C. A. work, will go east this summer to visit them. Mr. and Mrs. Charles P. Hayes lived in Omaha for a few years after their marriage. Miss Drake in South America. Miss Frances Drake, who was for merly general secretary of the Y. W. C. A. at the University of Ne braska, from which school she is an alumna, is now permanently located in Montevideo, South America. Survey work has engaged her at tention there, preparation" for it hav ing been made in six months of lan guage study and observation of edu cational facilities far women in La Plata. In one of her reports Miss Drake throws interesting lights on student conditions in South America. Cantata Soloist Clubdom Mrs. Verne Miller will be the con tralto soloist in the cantata, "The Rose Maiden," to be presented Thursday evening by the Omaha Choral society' at the First Method ist church. J. E. Carnal is directing the cantata. Mrs. W. Dale Clarke will have the soprano role. The baritone will be Walter Jenkins of Council Bluffs and the tenor role will be sung by Homer Burress of New York City. Girls' Candle Club. The Girls' Candle club will meet for dinner at the Y. W. C. A. Wed nesday at 6:30 p. m. Dinner will be followed by a business meeting. The club will entertain at a Dutch treat dinner and theater party Fri day evening. Those who plan to at tend are requested to meet in the lobby of the Woodmen of the World building at 6:15 p. m. Dinner will be served in the Woodmen cafeteria, following which the party will attend "The County Fair" at the Sun thea ter. An invitation is extended to any girl in the city who ,is interested in the club, which was organized for the purpose of entertaining lonely girls. . Women Golfers Meet. Miss Daphne Peters, president of the Nebraska Women's Golf asso ciation and Mesdames Blaine Young, Mark Levings, John Redick, Karl Lininger and Allen Dudley met for luncheon Tuesday at the Feld club to discuss plans lor the annual state meeting of women golfers to be held at the Omaha Country club June 20. Women golfers of the Field club Country Club Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Smith will en tertain 24 guests at dinner at the Country club Wednesday evening. The new Belgian Academy of Let ters, which is being organized along the lines of the famous French academy, will be the first institution of its kind in Europe to admit wom en to full membership. The Swedish parliament has passed a bill making women eligible for all the higher posts in the civil service (excluding military and diplomatic posts) on the principal of equal pay for equal work.
