Plans for Rigid Enforcement of Lens Law Made Latest Addition to "Mitchell Line New Statute Forbids Use of Headlights Not Approved By Department , of Public Works. 10 A State officials are planning an en ergetic campaign for the enforcement of the new law requiring approved automobile headlight lenses, effective July 23. . The law forbids the use of any lenses not approved by the State de partment of public works, excepting only that present owners of automo biles may continue to use tlicir pres ent lens in case their lens conforms to the present law. The new law applies to future sales or use of cars sold in the future, whether by dealers or at second-hand. The state officials have announced that they will follow the Connecti cut specifications, approving only those lenses approved by that state. The new law provides: 1. That it shall be unlawful to use, sell or offer for sale, or to ship into the state any motor vehicle lens not properly approved. 2. That no person, firm or cor poration shall drive or cause to be driven any automobiles which are not equipped with approved lens. 3. That the law shall not apply to tourists driving through the state for a period of not more than 30 days, who have complied with the law of their own state. 4. That the owner of any automo biles now in use, where the lens now complies with the present ldw, shall not be required to change the lens to conform to new regulations. Price of Maxwell Auto Is Now at Level of 1918 "The fact that the Maxwell price has been reduced is attracting the . attention of motorists generally," says Mr. Huntington of the Omaha Auto Sales company. "At its new price of $845 it is now back to the price of 1918 and in addition to this t is a greatly improved car. "During the last several months many refinements have been incor porated in the Maxwell and, in my opinion, it is now the equal of many cars which are selling at consid-j erably highed prices. "We notice a stimulation in sales here that is extremely gratifying and our advices from the factory are to the effect that this condition is gen eral. "With the reorganization of the company now complete, plans for pushing the production of the new Maxwell will go steadily forward on a strong basis. , "This is gratifying with the real motoring season just opening up and is of interest to everyone who motors." Price Cuts Bring More Motor Sales John N. Willys, president of Willys-Overland, again drove home the truth that history not only repeats, but can be made to repeat, when he announced smashing price cuts in Overland and Willys-Knight motor cars this week. Willys' sharp reduction to lower prices at this time, according to Willys-Overland distributors, has stimulated markets in the low-priced automobile field just as his startling price reductions in-- 1915 opened a great buying for Overland cars at that time. The Willys-Oveland reductions will take effect June 1 bringing the priceof the Overland model 4 "tour ing, the most popular model, to the lowest figure at which it has ever been offered $695. This is 32 per cent less than the price of last Sep tember and is a $200 reduction from the price obtained this spring. Deep reductions were made in 'all models, the Overland coupe being reduced to $1,000. Willys-Knight reductions now class the Willys-Knight among the very lowest priced of the fine car group. The Willys-Knight reduc tion is $300 on the touring car bringing it to $1,895, and the Willys Knight sedan is reduced June 1, to $2,750. New York's Police Motor Truck. The police motor truck reserve corps in New York City, which is purely a voluntary organization brought into being at no cost to the city or state, has available in motor trucks and equipment the quivalent of 150 freight trains in ton carrying capacity, for the transportation, ot food should the railways cease to function. ? The four-oassencer special is theS latest addition to the Mitchell line and is proving to be a very popular model, according to W. L. Killy of the Noyes-Killy Motor company, re cently appointed ; Mitchell distribu tors. This model provides the straight line effect which is so popular among motorists this year. The interior finish is beautiful,, and richly up holstered to harmonize with the top and to match the side curtains. A finely tailored collapsible top folds compactly and forms a rakish ap pearance. . According to W. L. Killy, this model is destined to be one of the most popular of the season. Buick Co. Announces Price Reduction on All Models of Cars Announcement has been made of price reduction on all models of Buick cars. This decision was made at a meeting of all distributors and branch managers at the Buick fac tory Tuesday. H. E. Sidles and Charles Stuart of the Nebraska Buick company rep resented this territory and immediate ly wired all their dealers to attend a conference at Lincoln on Satur day, May 28. - ' . Buick dealers are very optimistic about the future and say that since the announcement of price reduction it is only a matter of delivery. The Buick Motor company is now producing 1922 models. The only change was the equipping of all mod els with a pressure gun system foi greasing the car. This will eliminate the old-style grease cups. . This announcement is in line with the Buick policy of the past 14 years. No radical changes have been made from year to .year. The entire present line will be carried through the year of 1922. ' " : Cadillac Will Make No Price Reduction J. H. Hansen of the J. H. Hansen Cadillac company returned this week from the Cadillac factory. While in Detroit, Mr.'Hansen took up particu larly the price situation. It has been definitely decided by the Caditlac factory that there will be no reduc tion in the price ot Cadillac cars during the present year. Apparently there will be no over supply of Cadillacs and the refine' ments and improvements in" the car, according to Mr. Hansen are ample reason tor the present price. Some lines have manufactured simultaneously as many as three or four distinct models not styles of bodies, but chasses. They have come and gone. You can probably imagine what such a policy means in manufacturing cost, in selling prices and in the resale value of such cars. Chandler resale value is relatively higher than that of any car, after a like period of service.
