THE BEE: OMAHA, MONDAY. MAY 23. 1921. EuHaloes Irample Joplin Under Score of 12-5 and 11-1 in Double Bill Lec and Massey Jump on Miner Pitchers Hard Omaha Shortstop (Jets Five Hit?, While Local Center fielder Clouts Out Two Homers. Joplin, Mo.. May 22. (Special Telegram.) Omaha mauled, mur dered and took everything Joplin had this atternoon. 'The Buffaloes cop ped the opener, 12 to 5 and the twi light affair, 11 to 1. The first game was clo.c for a spell, with the Miners tying the count at the five run -milestone, but the Buffaloes tacked on seven more and held the locals. ' In the lirst, Gislasan walked but was forced by Haney, who went To third on Lee's single. Lclivelt's hit through the box scored both run ners and Gi ifhn drove one over the left field wall for a home rim. The Miners tied it up in the fifth and sixth but the visitors ran off with everything in the closing frame. In the eighth with Gislason on, Lee smashed a homo run to center. Grif fin got a home run, two triples and a double. There was no question about the second game. The Buffaloes had it all the way. and the Minors helped them out with a comedy' of errors. In the first inning Lec got his second home run of the day, a line smash to center. Davenport was hurling superbly and had the Miners at his mercy. Un til the ninth they had but two hits from his delivery, one of them a scratch that hopped over Massey as he was about to field, In the ninth Robertson tripled and Dunn singled and accounted for the only home tally, leanwhile the Buffaloes were pecking away each inning with hits and runs and had the game swamped before it was well under way. Massey's five hits and Lee's clout ing were the .features of the game which turned to a listless uninterest ing affair as it progressed.
