Here's the Works; Read 'Em and Weep Omaha homes recently were busie with poring over the list of Edison Questions questions which Thomas A. Edison put before prospective employes of his plant in East Orange, N. J. Failures of a number of these pros pective employes, all college gradu ates, brought forth from Mr. Edison the remark "which startled educated America: That the average college graduate is "amazingly ignorant." The Bee was the first Omaha newspaper to publish these questions. Evidence that their publication in Omaha set educated minds to pon dering their answers was shown in the number ot telephone cajls re ceived by The Bee with regard to thrm. v Here's the list of 146 questions, together iiith their answers: 1. X-Ray Bombardment of Body Is New Plan to Fight Cancer London, May 21. The war on cancer has been advanced a step fur ther by recent experiments conducted at a London hospital. Dr. S. Gilbert Scott, head of. the radiological de partment, now hopes that by bom barding the patient's bo'dy with X rays it will be possible to prevent cancer cells from wandering over the body until they find root and set up a new growth. "Already we have successfully treated primary, or surface, cancer with X-rays, but the dispersed cells have afterwards lodged in dtep seated parts of the body. Now, by drenching the whole body with the rays we are getting better results, and there is good reason to hope that we may be able to prevent the forma tion of deep tumors which hitherto in most cases have proved fatal."
