A lovely wedding was olmnized on Wednesday morning, when Claire Hoeschen, daughter ol Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hoeschen, became the bride of John B. Long, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. V. .Long, at St Cecilias cathedral. Dr. R. M. Sifby played the weUUing march. Bernedette Hoeschen, sister of the bride, who served as maid of honor, wore a gown of pink crepe, with hat to match, and corsage of sweetpcas. J. Clifford Long attended the groom. The bride wore a gown of shell pink georgette crepe and satin, with hat to match, and corsage of bride's roses. She wore the groom's gift, a necklace of French pearls. The wedding breakfast was served at the Long home. A reception was held in the evening, when about 100 guests called. Mr. and Mrs. Long will be at their new home at 3105 South Thirty-second avenue, after June 1. - Banquet for Seniors. A banquet was given at the University club Friday evening' for the senior students and faculty of the University of -Nebraska, Col lege of Medicine By members of the Woman's Faculty club of the college. The hostesses were not present at the affair. Dr. A. D. Davis acted as toast nlaster. Faculty members respond ing were Drs. Irving S. Cut ter, Harold Gifford, C. A. Hull and C. W. M. Poynter. Senior students who responded to toasts will in clude R. N. .Fouch, W. B. Johnson, L. H. Lee and J. V. K. Pace. A stunt program was given by D. D. Stonecypher and B. H. Bacr, students at the college. Decorations were in scarlet and cream carnations. The place cards were marked with the university seal: . Guests Entertained. Mr.' and Mrs. George B. Darr will entertain at dinner at Happy Hollow club Saturday evening. Their honor guests will be Mrs. Edna Tucker and Mrs, Clara Kin ney of Lexington, Neb., who are visiting Mrs. Arthur C. Leflang. In cluded in the party will be Mr. and Mrs. Harry Smith of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Marie Stuckey, Ralph Smith and Chester Leflang. Mrs. Stuckey gave an Orpheum party Monday evening for these visitors. " Carter Lake Kensington Club. The Carter Lake Kensington club will hold its first bridge luncheon of the season Wednesday, June 1, at the Carter Lake club house. Wives of members of the club are eligible to membership in the kensington club. The club elected the following of ficers Wednesday: Mrs. George Pray, president; Mrs. Paul Herring, vice president; Mrs. Glenn Smith, secretary-treasurer. May Carnival. The woman's alliance of the First Unitarian church will hold a May festival and carnival Friday and Sat urday evenings in the church com mon room, Thirty-first and Harney streets. Miss Helen Nightengale, a protege of Mrs. Douglas Welpton, will give vocal solos Saturday in the auditori um of the Burgess-is ash store in connection with the style show. The University of Nebraska in Lin coln, which has claimed such a large number of the younger set during the winter months, closes on June 6. Two coeds who will be graduated at that time are Thelma Detweiler and Helen Wahl of Omaha. Both have received the Phi Beta Kappa key for scholarship. Miss Detweiler is a member of Phi Beta Phi soror ity and Miss' Wahl is a member of Alpha Phi. Dorothy Hippie, another senior at the university, will, after her gradua tion, come home for a time. She is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Later in the summer Miss Hippie will probably take a trip with her parents, Dr. and Mrs. H. A. Hippie, to some of the northern summer re sorts. Wilcox has accepted the chairmanship for "Poppy day," Decoration day, May 30, when pop pics will be sold as a benefit for children of devastated areas in France. Mrs. Wilcox and her com mittee met Friday afternoon, 4 o'clock, at the Fontenelle to perfect plans for carrying Out the work. The American Legion, the Over seas Girls and American War Moth ers are especially active in backing the project. Mrs. Wilcox is a promi nent member of the American War Mothers, a past president of the Benson Woman's club and an ef fective worker and leader in many other local organizations. Chautauqua Notes.
