Welterweight Champ
Challenged By Owen ,
Daily of Hastings
' " .
Hastings, Neb., May 14. (Spe
cial.) Owen Daily of Hastings last
night issued A c'- Ulcngc to Jack Rey
nolds, welterweight champion for 'a
side- bet of $500 and 60-40 per cent
of the gate receipts at a 145-pound
ringside. Daily has been unable to
secure a match with the former
champion unless he puts up an ex
ceptional large side bet, which has
been impossible for the Hastings lad
to do.
Reynolds will probably, be more
considerate and accept the challenge
and show the public that his right
ai a contender for the welterweight
championship is w ell founded. Daily
would Jike to wrestle Reynolds. May
25 at Hastings, because the G. A.
R. and the Sons of Veterans are
r-otdincr the state encampment on
Mav 20 to 25. inclusive, and it is ex
pected that at last 2.000 people will
be in attendance.. Should Reynolds
accept the challenee he should get
in touch Mith William CrOsson at
Hastings. , .
