Dr. Jennie Callfas and Mrs. E. B. TowJ resigned as members of the Board of Fublic Welfare yesterday. "I prefer to retire with our present administration," Dr. Callfas said when she gave her resignation to Mayor Smith. Other city officials and officehold ers are preparing to move when the iiev(aduu'nistation takes office. V.- L. Weaver; T. B. Murray and H.rL. Mossman say they will resign from the city legal department when the new council is organized. . Several possibilities arc being named tor the city clerk job. Dr. J. F. Edwards,-health officer, ays he won't resign, although there is talk of a new appointment, . (Special.) A Lancaster county jury today found Grace Slade and Maude Robinson of Orriaha guilty of grand larceny. They 1 were charged with stealing $265 worth of women's wearing apparel from rf Lincoln department store. Lawyers Withdraw As Fair Counsel File Letters Purporting Client's Authorization of Suit Over Administrator. firogan, Ellick & Raymond, the law firm which filed a petition in the name of Mrs. Mary Fair, widow of the late Rev. Campbell Fair, former dean of Trinity cathedral, asking that her son, Campbell' Fair, be removed as administrator of the Fair estate and that a trust company be placed in charge of it, filed a withdrawal of appearance as counsel for Mrs. Fair, in county court yesterday. Mrs. Fair denied she had author ied the filing of such a petition in a letter to County. Judge Crawford. The Omaha law tirm filed copies of letters purporting to be from Mrs. Fair, authorizing her son, James 11. S. Fair, to employ counsel. She is quoted as saying: "It seems best that my son, Campbell, be relieved of the administration work as there is a good deal of friction between the two boys and he is seldom in Omaha," ahd as favoring either a division of the estate or the appointment of a trustee. The firm also filed a copy of a telegram from a law compairy said to be representing Mrs. Fair in Balti more, giving it power to act. This is the second withdrawal of law .firms in the Fair matter, the firm headed by, Stanley Rosewater, employed by Campbell Fair, having withdrawn several weeks ago.
