'Home, Sweet Home," will be the prevailing sentiment vh,en the Com pete Building show opens at the Auditorium on the evening of April 18. ' A big orchestra will play the Jamiliar old song, while Governor 5. R. McKelvie'has announced his ntcntions to Robert C. Mitchell and Charles A. Kranke, the promoter's, hat he would use "Home, Sweet Home" for the subject of his address le will deliver the opening night. Mayor Ed 1. Smith will make the opening address. In the attendance as well as the displays the Omaha exhibition is ex pected to vie with a similar one held in Chicago last week. Already ex hibitors who were at the Chicago exhibition say the local affair will far exceed the other one in exhibits. Banquet Opening Day. A luncheon in honor of Ralph T. Stoddard, secretary of the Common Brick Manufacturers' Association of America, will be held in the ball room of the Fontenclle the day the building show opens. All archi tects, contractors and manufactur ers of common brick in Nebraska and Iowa have beeen invited to at tend this luncheon, at which time Mr. Stoddard will illustrate a method he has evolved for laying brick in a new manner. One of the most impressive ex hibits to be staged at the exhibition will be one conducted by Bradley Roe. of the Roe Metal Specialty Co., 737 Peters Trust building. Mr. Roe will exhibit metal doors and windows which are said to be absolutely burg lar proof, as well as perfectly sani- i tary. Mitchell, brother of Mr. Mitchell, one of the building show promoters, has secured a reservation ior his company, the Morcau company of Cleveland, O., manufacturers of dectric lights. Mr. Mitchell will not talk shop for himself during the ihow, but for the local firms that use his articles. To show how cheaply a modern house can be heated when a thor oughly modern furnace has been in stalled, will be the purpose of the furnace exhibit to be shown by the Duffy Furnace & Sheet Metal works, 420 North Eighteenth street. Green and whit ill be the pre vailing colors used fn th. decorations for the show. Large wooden posts will be erected and on each will be placed a small residence constructed from pasteboard in which will be an electric light. 1 . - ' Boy, 10, Implicates Father as Brewer I i Lad Charged With Bicycle Theft Gives Damaging Tcs timony in Juvenile Court. Walter Sempek, 10, gave damaging testimony against his father, Joseph, 4319 South Twenty-seventh street, for bootlegging when he was brought ijito juvenile court yesterday morn ing on a charge of stealing a bi cycle. Mrs. M. Bonar, Thirty-fifth and Parker streets, corroborated what the bov said. "I once caught my husband buying; whisky from Sempek, but he never went there again after thar," she an nounced to the judge. -Judge Sears said he would prevent the elder Sempek from obtaianing his second naturalization papers if he found the charges to be true. , Sempek was arrested once for bootlegging, but denied he is in the business now. Mrs. Bonar testified that Valtr Sempek urged Frank Chcckogowski, 14, 2615 H street, to go with him in stealing the bicycle. ' Frank's mother also pleaded with him, . "He's a good boy; helps mc scrub the floor and wash the dishes," she said. She lias two other boys in the Kearney home. Judge Sears ordered the boa to Rivcrvicw home until further notice. Diuiios to ie biven 1 Away at Elks Show Big Carnival Will Be Staged at Auditorium Mav 7 to l k Three automobiles will be given away at the big Elks' indoor circus and carnival which will be given at the Auditorium May 7 to 14 under the auspices of the Omaha Elk' lodge, No. 3. The circus and carnival, which is one of the biggest shows to visit the Auditorium this year, will be given for the benefit of the activities com mittee to help defray the expenses of the Elks' band to Los Angeles and to land the national headquar ters of the Elks for Omaha. A Packard automobile, Buick and Overland car will be given away on the last night of the show. Besides giving away three auto mobiles, there will be six of (the best circus acts in the country on th; program. Following the circus there will be dancing every night. The New Or leans Jazz band will furnish the music for the dancers. The Omaha Elks' band will give a concert every night during the show. The circus has just finished a suc cessful season in Chicago, New York, Philadelphia and Boston, where it played under the auspices ot the Elks. ' u ; . Chemical Society to Meet The Omaha section of the Ameri can Chemical society will meet in room 310, Central High school, Tues day evening. A paper, "The Manu facture of Bismuth," by Arthur E. Hall, general superintendent of the American Smelting and Refining company, will be read. Dynamometer Car Shows Operative Cost Just how fast a train is going, how much energy from its various agencies is being expended and the exact cost of operation can be rcg-1 istercd by the new dynamometer car which arrived in Omaha Friday anoV made tests in the Omaha and Coun cil Bluffs yards of the Chicago, Mil waukee & St. Paul railroad. The dynamometer car and the va rious mechanical, appliances ' is fastened to the engine. Ther are several charts in the car in which automatic indicators and pens mark up the information sought. Charles C. Dimock. transportation inspector of the road, is in charge of the car , and is making tests all along the system. .
