' Motion Picture. On Monday evening at the First Central Congregational church, 36th and Harney, stereopticon views and motion pictures on the reclamation of the waste places of America will be given by George II. Payne. The majority of views are of work now They were four little girls In "Pom-Pom" costumes. . It was at the carnival staged for visiting merchants' at the Auditorium Wednesday night. - - They were pretty girls, gay and happy, and their unique costumes quickly roused the interest and curiosity of the merchants. Embroidered on the costumes of the four girls was one letter. That was the puzzler. 1 But finally the girls disclosed their little scheme. They lined up in quartet fashion and the four letters were seen to spell the word "Advo." Historical Ipr. 1 .TTOnmi :: Miss Maurine Richardson, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs1. Walter W. Richardson, is among the students at Central High school who have written a history pageant commem orating the tercentenary of the land ing of the Pilgrims. The court scene is the work of Miss Richard son. ' . The other young authors are: Elizabeth Patton, Rose Murray, in progress at Aberdeen. S. D. The affair is under the auspices of the south Dundee Woman s division of the church. Miller Park Mothers. Miller Fark Mothers' circle will meet Wednesday, 3 p. m., at the school auditorium. Black Beauty Coming. "Black Beauty," a motion picture taken from the story of "Black Beauty," will be shown at the Bran- dcis theater the, week of March 20, under the auspices of the Humane society. The" net proceeds will, be used by the society to build a shelter for horses, dogs and other stray animals. Those who are familiar with the story of "Black Beauty"-will be de lighted with the picture, which has been meeting with great success in other cities, according to those in charge here. Get Acquainted Club Benefit Party The Get Acquainted .club will give a benefit party Wednesday eve ning, 8 o'clock, at the First Uni tarian church. Thirty-first and Har ney streets, the proceeds of which will be donated to the furfd for starving children of Ltirope. An invitation is extended to the public. I lie club will meet ljunday eve ning, March 13, at 7 o'clock, at the rirst unitarian church. Dr. and Mrs. R. R. Hollistcr will be host and hostess, assisted by Miss Celia Cnase. There will be games and a pro gram, followed by community sing ing. Refreshments will also be served. The program will include a violin solo by Archie Baley, accompanied by Miss Irene Tauchcn; a reading by Miss Helen Sailing of the Misncr School of the Spoken Word, and a vocal solo by Miss Jewel Tucker. . All lonely men and womert in the city are welcome. The club has an Average attendance of more than 200. : . National Officer Speaks r On Proportional Rep resentation. s Dr. George W. Hallett of Phila delphia, assistant secretary-of the American League for Proportional Representation, will speak before the Omaha branch of tile league Friday evening, 8 o'clock, in the council chamber, city hall. Dr. Hallett, who is touring the country in the interest of the leaeuc. s on his way to Sacramento, Calif., where the method has been adopted to aid in the counting of ballots. The meeting is open to the pub lic. f. Prof. Olerich Gives Lecture. The women 'voters' nonpartisan 'mimittee will present Prof. Henry Olerich in a lecture on "Glimpses of Past, present and Future," at Labor temple Sunday evening, March 13, t 8 o'clock. ' Mrs. John Storms will exhibit and xplain . Prof. Olerich's charts, and ill also give vocal numbers. .The lecture is open to the public. Social Settlement Notes. The Royal Q. B. C. club will en tertain at a St. Patrick's dinner Mon day evening at the Social Settlement house. The dinner will be followed by gymnasium class work. Immediately the visiting merchants knew them. They were McCord-Brady girls, Advo being the trademark of the McCord-Brady company. Omaha-Business Woman's Club Celebrates St'. Patrick's Day. ' Miss Etta May Young is chairman of the committee on arrangements for the St. Patrick s day party to be given at the Y. W. C. A. Tuesday evening. The club will meet for dinner it 6:15 as usual, following which a short program will be given m the -auditorium ot central building. Members will then adjourn to the gymnasium where the remainder of the evening will be spent in games and dancing. s Home Economics and So cial Science Hold Luncheon.
