Your Face and
Those Chinless Persons You Meet Are Not Always
Weak and the Protruding Chin Doesn't Always
Prove Belligerency Watch Other Details.
By MABEL WARNER RUGG
I I' YOU have been entertaining
the idea a receding cliin is neces
sarily an indication of menial
weakness, or general inefficiency,
forget it. Other indications can com
pletely offset the weak tendencies the
receding chin may prophesy.
Tl"i receding chin, true enough,
may indicate weaknesses such as im
pulsiveness, impatience, changeable
ncss, irritability, lack of mental
courage, pr lack of physical endur
ance. Hut any or all of these traits
can, and do exist, in the same per
sonality with a high type of men
tality. "Not only that, but many a
man" is hampered by some of these
weaknesses, and yet has a chin like
a prize-fighter.
Many men and women, who are
failures, so-called today, are. blaming
their misfortunes on to inadequate
brain caliber and receding chin,
when a matter of fact the fault lies
in the fact that they have some other
weaknesses of which they are not
aware and which they could over
come with the help of a character
analyst and by psychological form
ulae. Receding Chin, Low Crown.
One of the strongest characters I
ever analyzed has practically no
chin, but his mental courage showed
out in his height of head, his prom
inent nose and his expression.

What It Tells
w hen you observe a receding chin
is the combination ol such a eh
with a low crown of the head.
That
is bad.
If you sec a chinless sort of per
son whose head is full front but
flattens out over the crown, then you
confirm weakness. If the nose is
slightly "pug" then there is abso
lutely no doubt that the person has
a lack of mental courage, and its
accompanying train of weaknesses.
The Protruding Chin.
A chin protruding out of harmony
line with the upper face has long
been considered the pugnacious
chiiw the prize-lighter chin. With a
coarse texture and a belligerent ex
pression, it is liable lo be.
But with fine texture, such a chin
may only show a tendency to be
too patient, to be procrastinating in
decision and action.
As a general rule, I can say that
a desirable chin is the one somewhat
nearly on a plane with the forehead
line. If this type is backed up by
good development of the other head
sections mentioned before, the char
acter indicated excellent. But if it is
not, then it shows only symmetry of
features, that is all.

are being puiillshed Mabel Warner

Man Captured After
Wild Chase Through
Fields by Deputies
After defying Deputy Sheriffs Hol
ter, Johnson and Hove, Wednesday
afternoon, Rasmus Nielsen, living
near Bennington, was arrested and
placed in the county jail.
Nielsen was summoned to district
court by Judge Scars last Tuesday
to answer contempt charges because
of an alleged disregard of an injunc
tion issued against him some months
ago to prevent him from disposing
of crops which Dr. B. W. Hall of
Benson claimed.
Tuesday, Deputy Sheriff Charles
Johnson was defied by Nielsen, who
tore up the summons handed him and
cursed the deputy roundly. Wednes
day, with reinforcements, Johnson,
after chasing Nielsen through a
barbed wire fence, a cornfield, ti
barnyard and a house, captured his
man.
