AT THE THEATERS E VERT TIME we see a Griffith pic ture we are compelled to repeat one statement. He is In a class by blm- self. We can't tut say It again after think ing of the wonderful production, "Tha Love Flower," whU'h we' witnessed at the Brandeis theater last evening, where it began a week's engagement. Here ngain the greatest of producer has trodden on thin soil with a theme of the love of a daughter for her father, a love that would even have her plot her own death to save him. torment, he has treated It with exnulslte delicacy and surcness and given it those Inimitable touches as only he can do. Matchless revelations of beauty, Strength? and excitement prevail in this picture. It is an unusual sort of a Griffith produc tion for it borders on the melodramatic In which the master hand injects a wonderful deep-breath romance of the out-of-doors: happy, thrilling and de lightful, with scenes of quickening beauty and a gallery of scenic splendor. It la a story with a strange and vlhrant spirit, taken from the Collier's - Weekly Isle "Black Beach." by Ralph Stock, done with that xst and fascination of story-telling only Mr. Griffith can provide. Headline honors at the Orpheum are shared this week by two stellar acis. One is the new dance production of Haekett and Delmar, who appear with six capable assistants in "The Dance Shop." The, offering is beautifully staged and handsomely mounted. Music-lovers deep ly relish the performance of America' favorite baritone, George MacFarlane. In light opera he is widely known.- Hhe starred formerly In "The Heart of the Heather." and in the all-star revival of "Trilby" he played the role of the Laird. One of the featured acts this week la presented by the sir Kirksmlth sisters. They excel as vocalists and also a In strumentalists. Marie lerland, the ef fective character comedienne, is seen to advantage in "Umphs-ville." The lg society night was enthusiastic about the show Monday night. , There are many form of evidence that the I.ondon Belles at the Gayety all week is one of the few burlearjue show that have numeroua schemes for the better ment of higher clas burlesque. Thi la easily noticed owing to the fact that the wnrlf real dramatlo playwright IrC " im opening ot the enow is a prologue something new for burlesque.
