THE BEE: OMAHA. THURSDAY, MARCH 3. 1921. Mail Trucks to Be Soon in Service Street Cars Used in Ticking Up Mail to Be Dis carded March 10. Collection and delivery of mail by trucks in Oinalu will be started on the morning of March 10, it was announced yesterday. Special street cars used in picking up mail in suburban parts of the city will be discarded on that day. Twenty trucks are now ready for use, all new. Ten more trucks wilt lie added. L. II. I'tt, who has been named .superintendent of the truck system, plans to operate the trucks oiu 16 liour shifts. Headquarters for the system temporarily is at the Truck and Tractor corporation, 1310 jack son street. A large garage is being construct ed for the government at Nineteenth and California streets, and the head quarters will be moved there on its completion, not later than July 1. K. Hoel, chief mechanic, with a stall of three men, is responsible for keeping the trucks running on scheduled time. They will be oper ated systematically, dispatched at a lixed time, and returned to the par age on regular schedule. Practice runs will be made by drivers beginning two days before the actual collection and delivery i starts. Plowins; Tanner Near Florence Starts Spring Will Lonergan, farmer near Flor ence, will start his spring plowing today, the earliest in farm history m this section, he said. "The frost is nearly out of the ground and as we look for no "more heavy frosts we may as well start 'work at once," the farmer said. v Other farmers have declared their intention of starting spring plowing at once. She said she would sell her household furniture to obtain money with which to get legal aid for her husband. Repaying of Dodge Street Scheduled to Start April 1 A. C. Arend, city engineer, follow ing a conference with J. J. Parks of the J. J. Tarks Paving company. Wednesday, said that rcpaving of Dodge street would start April 1. A new eight-inch water main will be laid from Seventeenth to Twen tieth street as soon as the frost is out of the ground. The street railway company has all materials on hand for its share of the work. Dodge street was graded last year. Mill Employes Strike Menominee, Mich., March 2. Employes of the J. W. Wells Saw mill company, walked out yesterday when an announcement was posted that a cut of 50 cents a day in wages would go into effect immediately.
