Chairman Calder of the senate in vestigating committee, announced after two witnesses had been heard, that no evidence had been found to sustain charges that, government officials had participated in abnor mal profits realized on coal during the 1920 shortage. ,. ,i The senate manufacturers' com mittee soon after. . concluded its hearings on the Calder bill provid ing for federal regulation ' of ' the coal industry and Chairman La Fol lette announced that the committee in executive session tomorrow would take up the measure.
