bill for government regulation of the

mittee. His statement, together with
prolonged and at times heated con
test over an allegation by Represen
tative Huddleston, democrat, Ala
bama, that coal mine operators had

public" and that the National Coal
association had something to do with
fixing the prices," took up the day.
Mr. . Huddleston 's statement was ,
denied bv T. D. A. Morrow, i vice
president of the coal association', and ,
when the reoresentative said he had
a stenographic transcript of directors'
meetings in which prices were dis- '
cussed, Chairman La Follette took
a hand. He called .on W. B. Reed,
secretary of the association," to pro
duce original copies of all such rec
ords, but was informed all had been
destroyed after being summarized in
