Wheat prices declined' , 2 ' to 5
or 6 cents with best grades about 5
cents lower. Corn was qU' 3 to
cents. Oats were W2 to 2 cents
lower. Rye declined 3 cents and
barley was unchanged to a cent off.
Sales of about 1,000,000 bushels of
wheat today for export oa the gen
eral break in wheat prices were re
ported. Chicago future prices were
sharply lower. Kansas City advised
the sale of 600,000 bushels to Eng
land today to go via the gulf. Coun
try elevators in seven leading states
that hedged their grain by sales of
futures handled it at an average cost
of 6.8c per bttshei, while jion-hedgers
averaged 8c per bushel, according to
reports to the American co-operative
manager. Reports of 392 ele
vators show they, 1 were protected
against loss by hedging.

ment of the whole reserve system is
of a character which will insure con
tinuance of the interesting conflict
Of influences for and against a
further decline in money rates.
At the close of last week the sys
tem's precentagc of cash reserve to
deposits and note circulation was
the highest since October of 1919.
Last week's $157,000,000 reduction
of rediscounts, brought that account
to the lowest since last March and
loans onxUnited States government
collateral are now below any week
since the statement of them separa
tely' was begun in March of 1918.

ple are still artruiig that the cause was a
recklessly overdone speculation on the
stock market llHetf, or that it was wholly
a consequence of world wide overstrain
un credit, or. again that the fall in the
atock market was the prophecy of coming
trade reaction anfl the "discounting" of
Its financial effects before' it came.

cattle were received this morning. - Nearly
all of them were Blockers and feeders di
rect to local traders and a few cattle that
were on offer sold steady. Tho close of
an up and dowp week finds some of the
best steer selling 25o lower than last
Friday,' but all other kinds are steady.
Cows also are mostly steady with a week
ago, while good heifers are closing hlghet
than lnat week. Tods for the week were
$10.00 on steers and $8.60 on heifers. Btock

Hoes The week Is closing with a rather
liberal run of hog, about 8,600 head show
ing up. Shipping demand was a-ery slack
this morning, as Is usually the Case at the
week-end, and packers took advantage of
the liberal receipts to cheapen cost. The
reault was a rather slow, uneven trade at -prices
anywhere from a dime to a quarter
lower. Bulk of the supply sold at $8.90
49.26, with best light butcher and choice
bacon bogs making a top of $9.25. Al
though demand on most days this week
has been broad and active, prices have
shown a Uttle lower tendency and are clos
ing at a decline of about 25c compared
with a week ago.
