If you have a lamp heated incu bator, be sure to use a new ".ck with each hatch. If the oil res-rvoir is of the ordinary type, it 'should be filled daily, preferably in' the after noon, so that you may be sure there is enough oil to last until morning Never fill the lamp bow' entirely full as expansion of the oil when warmed will cause it to overflow. Dodge county super - visors met in one of the most vio lent conferences that ever greeted an incoming board when, the case of the Standard Bridge company of Omaha against this county, relative to payment of a bill for bridge work,- was again brought up tor discussion. Despite the fact that the case is now pending in court, four of the new supervisors vpted that the claim should be paid. This would have carried had not County Attorney Cook stoutly objected and threatened to submit his resignation if the board allowed the bill to be paid. Upon his objection the vote was reconsidered and the majority swung against the bridge company. Attorney Cook threatened to secure a taxpayers"injunction forbidding a settlement if the board insisted on settling the matter while it is in court He is convinced that the county does not owe the Standard people any money and claims that new supervisors wipd have only been on the board four. days, have no right to vote on this, question. - Fearing to antagonize the county attorney. When eggs are first put into the incubator the temperature will drop and not return to the required heat until the eggs are warmed op, which generally takes several hours. It is a mistake to adjust the regulator dur ing this period? Leave it just as it was before you put the eggs in. Don't touch the regulator the first 24 hours of the hatch and the chances are that you will find the temperature up to requirements on the second day or as soon as the eggs have become thoroughly warmed. Turn and Cool Eg gt. Do not open the incubator o cool or turn the eg?S until the third or fourth dav. From then and until the 18th day eggs should be turned, morning and evening twice daily. The amount of cooling each day depends on the temperature of the incubator room, the period of the hatch and the condition of the eggs. This is a matter of your own good judgment. A fertile egg will be warmer than an infertile1 egg after the first week of incubation. If the thermometer is on or near an infertile egg it will register as warmer than the fertile eggs really are. That is one good reason why eggs should be tested the seventh or eighth day of the hatch and all eggs with dead germs removed. Do not remove the chicks from the triaehine until they are dry and un til the hatch is finished.
