Creighton to IT 1 raiso Cage Quintet ' i- i. r i I Local Athletic' Officials Ar ranging Tough Schedule for v Mulholland's Basket Ball Players. When the Creighton gasket "ball players start the 1921 seaspnv next month the local athletes will , un cork a schedule which calls for games- with several of the leading college and university teams in the country. , Notre- Dame, Colgate ' and Val "pariso Jll meet the Blue and White basket flippers next year on the Creighton surface and again when the Omahans take a jaunt through the east Creighton athletic off-cials received word yesterday from the ' Valparaiso authorities stating that the Indiana quintet would play in this city during February providing Coach Mulholland's tosscrs would play a return game at Valparaiso in March. - , While the Creighton officials were signing the Valparaiso contracts a request for games was received from Colorado university. The wisteni ers are willing to meet Creiguton in Omaha during January in a two game series. , To date Notre Dante, Colgate, Valparaiso, Oklahoma, South Dako ta, Yankton, Simpson,' Nebraska Wesleyan and possibly Colorado flay vaipa university have found .berths on Creighton's schedule. Kcturu games will be played with all the above named quintets on foreign floors. Ryan Organizing Star O. A. C. Basket Team. ' ? ! Denny Ryan, director of athletics at the Omaha Athletic club, is a busy man this week. The reason for all the work is that Denny is organ izing a basket ball quintet to play under the colors of the O. A. C. in the Greater Omaha league at the "Y" and to represent the local club - in games with Minneapolis, Kansas City, Chicago, St. "Louis and St. Paul Athletic club teams. , Ed. 1 Healcy, former Creighton player; Heal Hass,' formerly of Min nesota university: Freeman Fitzgcr old, who played with Notre Dame, and Coach Ernie, Adams of .the - University ol Omaha, will play onj Ryan's team. Hawkeyes Looking for Track Coach to Take Place of Jack Watson Iowa City, la., Dec. 17. (Special Telegram.)-r-The board in control of s' athletics at the University of Iowa ? has started a search for a hew train . er and track coach to take the place ' of Trainer and Track Coach Jack " Watson, who has been a member of the coaching staff at Iowa since the fall of 1913.:, Several weeks ago the board of fered Mr. Watson a contract which . would make him the highest paid trainer in the United States. The ' time during which the contract might have been accepted has ex pired, and an effort will be made to get a track coach who will develop Hawkeye track teams which will ; make a record in the conference ' equal to that maintained by Iowa ! in other sports. N. J., bout, which will be held here Christmas day. The bout will be for 10 rounds, it was an nounced. . Harry Bayless, Former . Lincoln BaD Player, Killed in Explosion Joplin, Mo Dec. 17. Relatives of Harry Owen (Dick) Bayless former outfiellcr with Western associa tion, Western league and Pacific Coast league base ball teams, re ceived word yesterday of his death in an explosion in a copper mine at Santa Rita, N. M. Baylless was 38 years of age and married. He played base ball last with the Lincoln club in the Western league in 1917.
