Fair Prices to Be
Farmers' Topic
At Conferences
Organized Agricultural Socie
ties Will Hold Joint Meet
ings in Lincoln, -January
3 to 7.
Lincoln, Neb., Dec. 8. The ob
taining of a fair price for agricul
tural products will be the general
keynote , of the discussions at the
meetings of organized agriculture in
Lincoln, January 3 to 7. Increased
production and the general better
ment of farming will not be ne
glected, and will come up for promi
nent consideration at several meet
ings, but farmers juifow are more
interested m better prices than in
anything else. The Nebraska Crop
Producers' association will devote
at least half a day to soil' fertility
and increased yields, and the Ne
braska Improved Live Stock Breed
ers' association wilL spend consid
erable time on the subject of pure
bred sires and the improvement of
live stock.
One of the bi.ar tcJpics on the pro
gram of the Nebraska Crop Im
provers' association is "The Future
Outlook of Farming." The subject
willAbe discussed from the angles
of trfe land owner, the tenant, and
the young man. Prominent land
owners will speak on how they plan
to obtain returns on their invest
ment, and renters are on the pro
gram to discuss the payment of
high rents. v? ,
" Several other organizations will
discuss similar phases of agriculture.
J. H. Frandsen will addresse the
dairymen on .the future of their in
dustry; John Frazeur, secretary of
the Midwest Milk Producers' asso
ciation, wil tell the owners of milk
cows what the farmers' milk plant
can do. This organization will also
give much consideration to the im
provement of herds and feeding for
better milk production.
The Nebraska Horticultural so
ciety will devote considerable time
to the marketing end of their busi
ness. Thome A. Browne, state rail
way commissioner, is billed to talk
about fruit freight rates and several
orchard men are on the program
to discuss what can be done to im
prove methods of placing Nebraska
fruit beforeUhe consumers.
The Nebraska farm bureau federa
tion will consider some of the press
ing problems confronting the farm
ers. It will ' give over some time
to the consideration of legislation
in the interest of agriculture.
. Women attending the meetings of
organized agriculture will have an
interesting program. Prominent men
and women will address them on
what they should know about willsfj
as well as about voting.
School Week at Ord Is
Celebrated by Entire City
Ord. Neb., Dec. 9. (Special.)
Ord. schools are celebrating school
week. Posters of all descriptions
made by pupils and teachers have
been used for decorating the city.
Each morning during the week
prominent business men visit and
talk to the snidents. The local pa
pers are making the schools their
special topic this week and the whole
affair will cI6se with an elaborate
and original patrons meeting at the
high school buliding Monday.

Richardson County Farmers
Finishing Corn Picking
Falls City. Neb., Dec. 9. (Spe
cial.) The majority of Richardson
county farmers will finish their corn
husking by the end of next week
if the Kood weather continues. The
crop is heavy and has been gathered
with less hired help than usual be
cause of the low price of corn and
hieh price of labor. Quite a few
farmers are feeding live stock, al
though the total amount of feeding
will be below the average. Recent
wet weather has kept the pastures
green and much stock is still on
grass.
