Offering Christmas Suggestions FsouWe v I have ' been making great progress on my shopping and I can almost measure the shopping days before Christmas ' by the number of presents I have bought And I haven't "neglected the few little necessaries for myself, cither. Viva Italia ! A DOILY of Florentine Cluny in the 18-inch size was al together irresistible. Out of all the other luxuries-to be found at the linen counter I chose ttys piece as the most suitable gift for a young matron. The pattern follows a design of circular mo tifs whtoh cut cunning little arcs out of the pure linen center. Snowballs! TpHE longer the hazy mildness of Indian summer hangs on. the more certain I am that snow. is lurking just behind, the clouds, and I can't help feeling impatient for the, silent falling of downy flakes. The boys tell me it is the first snow, soft and moist, that makes the best snowballs. It sticks together so well. And it's dandy, too, for setting up the snow man. But it's the very snow that sticks to a fellow's shoes and makes his toes tingle with the frost. I bought some dandy wool sport hose for a happy-go-luck lad of Penrod's age and I know it won't take him, ten minutes to get into the snow with them. They are -firmly -knitted in sport t rib of pure woolen yarn of a brown mixed color, and the roll cuff has three bands of red at the top. f 'N Other Bride. Ti AKEN care of and I expect her husband to do the thank ing. A calendar of menus, 60 in all, of seasonable suggestions for dinner for every Sunday and holi day in the entire year. A very complete set of general instruc tions for serving of formal and informal dinners. Explanation of measurements and rules of pro cedure in ioiiowmg recipes oc cupies the first few pages. Then follows one menu after another, with recipes for nreDarinar all of its disHes handily arranged on the Boutonnieres! T LIKE that word. It's hard to spell, hard to pronounce and hard to remember! But the little novelties are not hard to admire or to wear. Their tiny brightness just adds the rouch of color needed to bring out the best ef fect of the seasons furs. Cor sages, too, in silver and gold and rich colorings are displayed so that you can't help noticing them as you "step from the elevator on the second floor. Scared ! T WAS, when I heard-we had 1 been struck by the Russian in fluence. But visions of Bolsheviki fell awa from me when I rw the idea developed in suchcoatS as i moonea over there in the misses' department. One-of-r.avv duvetyne had a wide collar of gray squirrel. The belted front and full Russian blouse back gave it a final touch of smartness. Artful A LL flfcek was never more charmingly presented than in this indefinable mixture of chiffon and satin, and 1 couldn't help wandering how it is that such a wholly captivating effect could be secured without a single touch of other color. The dinner gown that inspired me has a blouse sweetly simple in design, and a tunic, of accordeon pleated chiffon finished with wide silk lace. - y r i 1 A V ' .,3: ' - " " - Mm Ji"j
