Sees Drop Coming
In Corn Products
Slock Yards Visitor Says
Heavy Crop Should tower
Prices. -
f-
"llio greatly increased com crop
in Nebraska this year,, to say noth
i'ig of the unprecedent corn crop
throughout the United States, ought
to bring corn and its products down
to a reasonable price," said J. M.
Matthews of Colorado, "who was a
visitor at the stock yards, Tuesday.
"According to statistics," said Mr.
Matthews, the corn crop this vear
is 214.000,000 bushels larger than
1919, while the ?upply of hogs is 5,
539,000 short of last year's produc
tion. The report of the department
of agriculture of the United States
cortains the information of a pro
duction of 3,131,349,000 bushels of
corn this vear as against a yield of
2,917.450,000 last year.
"These figures show thnt accord
ing to the law of supply airrt demand
there should be a big drop in corn,
but, of course, there are other things
to be considered that will control
the price and of course the price of
hogs " will be inceased. Hog and
hog products will be governed by
the southern and export outlet for
i'ieat products and the consumption
Df other food pioducts, but, the facts
remain that there is a great proba
bility of cheaper corn and higher
pi iced pork.
'"To assist n the reduction of the
high cost of living the consumer
can simply let up on the consump
tion of pork and turn, his attention
to the consumption of produces
that are moM plentiful. That is the
only solutii of the high cost of
living probftm."
