Parade Floats
To Tell of Love
Stories of tydrld
No Expense Spared In Making
Electrical Pageant Most
Wonderful In History of
Ak-Sar-Ben.
Official description of the 17 floats
which will make up this year's elec
trical parade, Wednesday night, Sep
tember 23, has been given out, by
Arthur P. Guiou, chairman of the
Ak-Sar-Ben parade committee.
The floats this year are of more
intimate interest to more people than
were the floats in any previous pa
rade. The title of the parade is
"Famous Love Stories," and the title
float, all decorated in hearts, cupids,
billing doves and other emblems of
the grand passion, bears the legend,
"All the world loves a lover."
Fifteen wonderful floats, done in
the most finished style of Gus Renze
and his staff of expert craftsmen,
form the body of the parade and de
pict the celebrated love stories of the
world.
First comes Adam andNEve. Then
Pygmalion and Galatea, representing
the story of the scluptor who fell in
love with a statue of a woman, fhe
making of the figure of Galatea cost
three weeks' work by an expert
sculptor who was brought at con
siderable expense from Chicago for
that one task. This is merely an in
dication of the fact that no money is
spared to make Ak-Sar-Ben parades
the best in the world.
The titles of the othe , wonderful
floats are as follows:
Helen of Troy.
Venus and Adonis.
Daphnis snd Chloe.
Antony and Cleopatra.
Abelard and Helolse.
Lancelot and Guinevere.
John Smith and Pocahontas.
Romeo and Juliet.
Napoleon and Josephine.
Madame Butterfly.
Skeleton In Armor.
' Lalla Rookb.
uuw.th. and Minnehaha.
On the 17th float will ride King
Ak-Sar-Ben XXVI m all his glory,
Those who have seen the floats de
clare they are the most splendid inJ
the brilliant history ot tne AK-sar-
Ben parades.

Hogs Receipts of hogs wers very much
like yesterday, 83 loads estimated at 6,800

weak close but demand Was good and the
market firmed up to practically steady
with yesterday. Bulk of- hogs to packer
was $14.4014.75 and shlppera were scat
tered from $14.60 up with several loads
of light hogs selling at a top of $f5T&0.
Sheep Today's run of sheep and lambs
was eatlmated at 23,000 head. Some lit
tle time was required, to shape up the
receipts and trade was rather late In get
ting started. Packers wanted killing mate
rial however and the market finally took
form at prices steady to strong on both
fat sheep and lambs. Best western lambs
brought $13.6013.75 and good fat ewes
sold up to $7.00. Jnquiry for fseders ap
peared to be fairly broad and prices held

. New York Stocks Today,
New York, Sept. 8. The hesitant
tone of the stock market at the
opening of today's session evidently
expressed further division of senti
ment among traders. Yesterday s
late advance in the rate of call loans
probably served to check bullish
operations. ' ., Excepting Crucible
Steel, whkh rose l?i points gains
and lossesVtmong leading shares,
esoeciallv oils, motors, steels and
rails, were limited to fractions. Bor-
ugn exchange was again unsettled,
remittances to London falling be
low: yesterday's minimum quota
tions. ' w V '.
Shorts were encouraged by the
lack of buying orders in the first
hour and exerted pressure against
the cheaper, rails, later extending
their selling movement to oils and
some of the independent steels. Re
actions among transportation shares,
ranged from 1 to 2 points, with as
much for most other popular issues.
Oils fell back on reports of further
differences between American in
terests and the Mexican govern
ment, Mexican Petroleum more than
forfeiting its early gain. Call money
was again in free supply at 7 per
cent, but foreign exchange made
little recover from preliminary
prices. 'zJV
Stocks rallied at ntidday, Mexican
and Pan-American petroleums, also
Crucible and Baldwin, rising 1 to 2
points from their reaction. Kails
weie irregular, aside from Canadian
Pacific, which strengthened on pros
pective higher freight rates to roads
within the Dominion.
