Cash wheat advanced 3c or more with premiums lc higher at 19c over December for No. 1 grades of winter with millers and exporters buying. Exporters took 41,000 bushels here to fill out cargoes and miller bought 15,000 bushels. Offerings to arrive were light. Despite the strength in cash prices, futures were weak onNrealiz ing and short selling and finished around the bottom. Omaha re ported killing frosts in northern Ne braska Thursday night and said thousands of acres of corn will not be out of the way of frost for a month. Houses with western con nections were good buyers of corn on all weak spots, giving the mar ket strength at times, but selling was too heavy for bulges to hold and the finish on all grains was easy, with professionals more bearish. The Canadian wheat crop is esti mated at 262,000,000 bushels, against 193,000,000 bushels last year; oats 497,000,000 bushels, against 394,000, 000 bushels last year. , Cash Premiums Higher. Export buying of wheat has been 1,000, 00" bushels in two days, Italy and the Dutch being in tha market. Country of ferings were light nnd cash premiums higher. Crop news from the northwest was more bullish. Primary receipts con tinue to show heavy losses from last year. Ihe week's exports were nearly double last year. Buyers o! pravloua days were sellers today, desplti 1h advance in cssh Liemlums. Export-sales of wheat at Chi cago today were 41,000 bushels, the mills 15 000 bushels, corn for eastern shlpmont 87.000 bushels and oats 165.000 bushels. Exporters found It difficult to buy wheat here, at the seaboard or at gulf. Italy and the Dutch wero tho best buyers, the British commission being out of the mar ket. Oats had support on the break and wero offered fairly or. tha bulges, with the close at intermediate figures. Cash houses bought. September early, while throughout the day local operators fur nished most of the selling. Premiums wer firmer early. -but easier later. Re ceipts were 172 cars. The primaries, al though getting moro than a week ago, were short of last year. Shipping sales were fair slacd, mostly to New England. Rye touched tho highest point early, $1.87 for September, with a break of 6c later, and the close around the inside. September In Minneapolis broke 6V4c. CaPh sales were 350.000 bushels. Stacks were tfree from bearish pressure today and a gradual strengthening process was in evidence, throughout the" entire session. The net result jfvas shown forth in gains of one to two points in the industrial list with a smaller response to purchases among ' the railroad shares. The price move ment, taken in conjunctiaii with the firm trend of Thursday, was of a sort made familiar !n other periods of recovery following a sharp de cline, reflecting in large part buy ing ior the retirement of short con tracts. The scale of business was too small to show any especial interest among the public. Chicago Trlbuno says: December wheat has advanced 16c. from the (low point of last Saturday. Two cargoes of wheat are said to have been sold from New York to tco to Argen tine and Brazil has bought 226,000 bushels at New York. It Is not unusual for wheat to be sent from, the United States to Brazil, but a sale to Argentine is a now factor and shows what tha condition there ic. September corn has advanced nearly 12c from the low point on August 10. Decem ber is up 8c. It was tha goas'o of the oats trade that the large sales of September by one of the big commission houses yesterday wero long oats. They were well scattered among the trade. Taking the oat market as a whole. It acted weak considering the strength in whe&t and corn. Cash oats especially were easy despite the small gain in futures. This is attributed to In creased receipts with prospects 4f a larger run. A Chicago grain man who has been on e ranch In Montana, advised the latter to hold his wheat believing it would bring $3.
