Thieves Burv Loot iri Yard

their loot bv burying it in the vard
of a Rock Island railroad dete;tic

captured them single-handed and
turned them over to Sheriff Jomi
Griffen. A quantity of stolen stuff,
imcluding wrist watches, rings and
lother articles of jewelry were
found in the hole they had dug in
llhe ground. The burglars ::'re now
iin the county jail awaiting their
preliminary hearing.
Grand Island, Neb., July 17.

Aged Mother Dies After
Trip to Visit Sick Son

Upon" hearing- of her son s illness,
the aged woman insisted upon be
ing permitted to make the trip to
his home. Two daughters accom
panied her. She was taken ill with

died in a few hours. Her body
will be taken to Yillisca for burial.
She is survived by seven grown
children.

Former Beatrice Fireman
Drowned in South Dakota
.Beatrice, Neb.. July 17. (Special
Telegram.) Vann Silverthorne,
formerly of this city, was drowned
at Ardmore, S. D., yesterday ac
cording to information received here
today. He was a locomotive fire
man, locating at that place a few
years ago. The remains willvbe
brougjrt to Beatrice for burial.
