The Sinn Fein commandant has warned Brig. Gen. C. H. T. Lucas, who is a prisoner in Sinn Fein hands, that unless the po lice and soldiers stop wrecking towns in south Ireland, Lucas him self will be held responsible and re prisals will be taken- against him and other British officers who are captured, it was learned today. Sinn Fein officials declared that civilians must not be molested by the British police and military. It is reported from Fernioy, Lis more and Bantry that many women and children are fleeing from these places, fearing violence on the part of the British soldiers. "One Big Union" Movement Revived by Railroad Men Chicago, June 30. Plans for a "one big union" movement among railroad employes were reported to have been revived here at a secret conference at which, leaders de clared, 105 delegates from American Federation of Labor locals through out the country were present. R. M. Keifer, district chairman, denied that the organization had any radical intent or that a strike was being considered. "We simply be lieve that all railroad workers should belong to one union, instead of half a dozen brotherhoods," Keifer said. "We have 2,000 members in Chicago now. We believe the American Fed eration of Labor has lost its power." Youth Sentenced to Hang Wedded in "Death Tier" Xew Orleans, La., June 29. Charles J. A Dirt Train Strikes Truck, Throwing Man 35 Feet-Uninjured Thrown 35 feet through space when the engine of the dirt train of Condon & Bolen struck his truck shortly after noon yesterday, Virgil Pitman, employe of Bingham & Son, 1013 Howard street, escaped without a scratch. The truck, alter being, struck by the engine, careened into a fire plug, snapping it off at the paving and streams of water flooded the vicinity of Twelfth and Davenport streets, where the accident occurred. Pitman was driving west on Dav enport street and the dirt train was going north on Twelfth street. Fit man was taken to the police station and after questioning by Captain Haze, was released. He declared that he did not see the train or hear it. Police explained that the train is not supposed to run between 12 and 1 o'clock and that no traffic officers are at the crossings at this hour. Men Elected to Canadian Legislature Are In Prison Winnipeg, Man., June 30. The latest returns in the general elections for the legislature, made public to day indicate that the labor party i has won a sweeping victory, electing ' at least 12 members to the house. Cuts Throat of Small Son And Commits Suicide Chicago, June 30. Charles Er dinger, 43 years old, cut the throat of his five-year-old son, Henry, and then killed himself at his home late today. The bodies were found by Mrs. Erdinger, when she returned from work. She told the police that her husband had been ill for three years and since Christmas had been unable to work. The raiTfOfid terminus here w'as tied up this morning as a result of the refusal of railway men to move trains boarded by police or soldiers, caus ing a complete stoppage of all trains for the south. The people of Dublin, foreseeing such a situation, had begun hoard ing food, notwithstanding the ef forts of the authorities to prevent hoarding. June Bank Clearings Gain Over Same Period In 1919 Bank clearings in Omaha for the month of June were $247,216.948 75. in comparison to $287,405,225.47 for May. June of last vear shows clear ings of $233,979,756.22. Police Commissioner Ringer yes terday received a petition signed by 11 of the 13 traffic officers, respect fully asking an increase in pay of $25 per month. Traffic officers are now paid $140 per month, the game salary paid to patrolmen. Oakland, Cal., Increases 39.8 Per Cent In Ten Years Washington, June 30.
