San Francisco, June 29. Secre tary of the Navy Josephus Daniels is one of the six Wilson cabinet officers who helped to open the dem ocratic convention here today and will sit through the deliberation that he hopes will result with the return of a democrat to the White House. During his stay here, unlike the oilier notable leaders. Secretary Daniels has his headquarters and his private quarters aboard the bat tleship. New Mexico, which on Sat urday brought him from San, Diego. In one respect the secretary stands shoulder to shoulder" with his personal friend, William Jen nings Bryan. He favors a dry plank in the platform. He has maintained a discreet silence as to his choice for the nomination but. he is confident any good democrat can win if backed up with a good platform.
