Laborers Back to Work. The
strike of hod carriers and building
laborers, started two weeks ago. Is
ended, according to contractors, who
said yesterday that most of the men
had returned to work.
Zoning Ordinance Considered.
The zoning ordinance, marking out
zones of the city for commercial, in
dustrial and residence uses, was rec
ommended for passage by the city
council committee of the whole yes
terday. Hotel Clerk to Leave. J. H. Staf
ford, who has been . assistant man
ager of the Hotel Fontenelle for two
years, has resigned to become man
ager of the Hotel Noble, Lander,
Wyo. He will leave for Lander with
Mrs. Stafford July 13.
To Deliver City Bonda. Carrying
15.000.000 in City of Omaha bonds,
W. G. Ure. city commissioner, and
W. C. Lambert, corporation counsel,
went to New lork Sunday evening,
to deliver the bonds and take over

Thieves Get Silk Shirts. A purse
brought from France and containing

hotel. Pickpockets took $41 from

she couldn't remember her son's ad
dress after coming here to visit him.

Asks to Be Arrested. Declaring
that a gang of men were "after"
him for "snitching," L. T. Dempsey
of Marshall, Tex., asked police to
arrest him at the Keen hotel Sun
day night. At police station he be
came delirious and was removed to
ths Swedish Mission hospital.
H. S. Clam Reunion. The quln-
tennial reunion of the class of 1890,
Omaha High school, was held last
night at the Happy Hollow Country
club. - Reading of a letter from Mrs.
Jennie Keysor of , Kirkwood, Mo.,
who was English teacher at the high
school, was a feature of the reunion.

E. Rlland, a printer employed by the
Omaha Dally News, who disappeared
last Wednesday, has not yet been
found. A reward of $100 for infor
mation leading to finding him has
been offered by Omaha Typograph

Dies in Bathtub. The body of
Ptank Dauensiend, 55 years old, was
found dead in a bathtub in the Pull
man hotel, Tenth and Mason streets,
yesterday , morning, a revolver still
held in the hand. A ticket from
San Francisco to Wilmington, 111.,
and $155 in cash were among the
effects of the dead man.
Robbed of $100. John Simmons,
a fireman for Cudahy & Co., was
held up and robbed of $100 in cash
and three checks by a negro in front
of 5011 South Twenty-sixth street
Sunday night. Bartley Bolds, 5011
South Twenty-sixth street, was ar
rested. Police said the pocketbook
and checks were found in the house.

Bottled Goods to Judge, Deliv
ery by an expressman of a case of
bottled goods to the Douglas county
law library yesterday caused some
consternation. District Judge Troup
declared later that the bottled goods
consisted of tooth wash consigned
to a drug store. The mistake wasn't
discovered till the box was opened.
The law librarian thought the box
contained It volumes of the corpus
juris, which had been ordered.

morning; and stole $7 and two re
volvers. Seventy dollars comprised
the loot of a "pants" burglar at the
home of Clarence Alton, 1810 Chi
cago street. Jewelry worth $100
and $54 cash were stolen from the
home of Charles Bonepart,' 817
1'ierce street, two small savings
banks containing $8 and a revolver
were stolen from the home of Mrs.
R. Nelson, 2756 Lake street. Chris
Anende, 409 North Twenty-third
street, lost a purse containing $70
to pickpockets on a streeat car near
the Union station.

Bomb Hotel in Ireland.
Limerick, Ireland, June 28. The
Railway hotel here was attacked
by unknown persons. Two bombs
were thrown, but there were no
casualties.
