Claims Invention
Will Revolutionize

Ralph W. Morrison.
Ralph W. Motrison, one of the or
ganizers of the Cathedral Phono
graph company of Omaha, has been
granted patents covering what is
known as the "Morrison elcctro
magentic reproducer" for phono
graphs, which it is claimed will revo
lutionize the phonograph business.
Morrison is director and produc
tion manager for the Cathedral
Phonograph company. The patent
is estimated to be worth $250,000.
The inventor entered the
phonograph business three years
ago as salesman for a local dealer.
His invention is attracting the at
tentions of prominent men in the
business thneuighout the entire coun
try. The Cathedral Phonograph com
pany now has in operation its own
cabinet factory at Marion, O.; a sec
ond plant at Grand Rapids, Mich.,
and a metal working plant at Chicago.

Onions Are Drug On Market
For First Time In Years
Washington, June 26. Onions
have become a drug on the market
for the first time in years, the De
partment of Agriculture reported to
day in its weekly market review.' On
the other hand, . potatoes are two
or three times as high as a year ago
and comparatively scarce. Califor
nia onion growers are plowing un
der their crops, the review says.

Is Facing Coal Shortage
Chicago, June 26. Chicago has
only enough coal to last its pumping

Combs, city engineer, said today.
The supply, to last this long, must
be evenely distributed.

Armenian Who Sought Aid
In U. S. Returns to England
New York, June 26. Gen. Ozan
ian Antranik, who came to the
United States as a member of the
Armean military mission, with the
object of enlisting moral and finan
cial support for the independence of
Armenia, sailed today for England.
Nebraska Pioneer Dies.
Fremont, Neb., June 26. Spe
cial.) Mrs. H. D. Dodendorf, a resi
dent of Nebraska since 1878 and of
Dodge county since 1886, died at theJ
home of a son in . Grand island
Thursday. She is survived by two
daughters, Mrs. J. M. Toner of Oma
ha and Mrs. Phillip Gumb of Grand
Island and two sons, Harry W. and
William E., both of Grand Island.
The funeral will be held in Fremont
Saturday afternoon.
Bank Clearings Fall
Although bank clearings in Omaha
for the past week were nearly $4,
000,000 under what they were the
previous week, they exceeded the
clearings of the corresponding week
of last year by more than that
amount. The clearings for this
week came to $55,452,507.90. Last
week they were $59,070,064.25. and a
year ago they were $51,281,659.90.
Auditors Hold Picnic
Members of the force of the audi
tor of freight accounts of the Union
Pacific, with their families, held their
annual nicnic at Elmwood park ves-
terdav. Games and contests of
all kinds for all ages were planned
to occupy the afternoon. Basket
lunches provided the refreshments.
About 350 persons were expected to
attend.
Bank Reserve Increases
New 'York, June 26. The actual
cond'tion of clearing house banks
and trust companies for the week
shows that they hold $28,057,280 re
serve in excess of legal requirements.
This rf an increase of $31,905,250
from last week.

Nebraska Oldsmobile company
were elected to serve on the execu
tive committee. Charles R. Gardner
of the Security Motor company was
chosen as toastmaster.
Another meeting will be held
Sunday morning at 10 at the office
of Andrew Murphy & Son for the
purpose of determining the route to
be traversed. The members of the
committee were in favor of routing
through the South I'la'te territory
and were given full power to make
the decision as to the route.
Four organizers, H,' C. Ridgway
and his assistants, B. J. McGee and
Richard Wolf, will return to Omaha
July 6 to make final arrangements
and carry out all detaii.

Arrest More Students
Tokio, June 26. Three more stu
dents have been arrested for com
plicity in the sale of war maps, for
which a law student named Seki
Zavva and an alleged accomplice
named Oyama were taken into cus
today last Thursday. Copies of the
maps are said to be already in the
possession of the bolsheviki.
On Way to America.
Taris, June 26. Karl Huzxar,
former premier of Hungary, arrived
in Paris today from The Hague and
will proceed shortly to the United
States. M. Huszar has been com
missioned by the Hungarian Red
Cross to deal with the question of
Hungarian prisoners stll in Siberia
and Turkestan.
