Complete Negro's $50 Bond
W. E. Davis, 2516 Q street, negro,
with four other negroesand a white
woman, were arrested Friday by
South Side police on a charge of be
ing inmates of a disorderly house.
Davis objected to remaining in jai
until his trial and Captain of Po
lice John E. Briggs fixed his bond
at$50 cash. Davis called a confer
ence of his relatives and friends with
the result 29 paper dollars, eight sil
ver dollars, four half dollars, 10
quarters, 65 nickels and 49 dimes
were dug up, but there remained a
deficiency of 55 cents to make up
the bond. After a raid on the baby's
55 pennies were added to the collec
tion and Davis was released.

Turitan club gave a picnic at Krug
park last night for 2,500 employes of
the company, refer Jolly and W.
T. Allen were in charge. Supper
was free and food plentiful. All
amusement concessions were also
free, through arrangement by M. R.
Murphy, general manager of the
