Chicago Grain J
By CHARLES D. MICHAELS.
Chicago Tribune-Omaha Bee) I-eased Wire).
Chicago, June 21. While July
and September corn advanced to a
new high figure on the crop after
a small break early, the best prices
were not maintained due to heavy
profit-taking by a leading New
York trader, and the close was at
net gains of llc. Oats showed
independent weakness and closed
unchanged to He higher, while rye
was yiic lower and barley
higher. Receipts of cash cprn were
smaller than expected and with
shippers good buyers of yellow, lo
cal traders who sold futures on an
early break due to a renewal of
the railroad labor troubles in the
east were forced to cover. On all
the bulges long grain came out in
volume, while on the breaks .here
was a good class of buying.

New York, June 21. After ad
vancing moderately in the first half
of today's trading sessions, stocks
came under the depressing influence
of stiff call money rates and reacted
before the close. Loans were re
newed at 7 per cent which seemed a
fair enough rate in view of general
money and credit conditoins in the
earlyi stages of mid-year require-
. L.. t .t..
uicius, uut iatc uurrowers saw me
rate rise quickly to 11 per cent. Buy
ing of the morning hours was evi
dently of professional origin and the
purchasers were not inclined to risk
the influence of possible high monej
quotation for several days to come.
This impression referred to fixed
period loans as well as demand loans
for the time money market hardened
appreciably during the1 day. Thirty,
60 and 90-day funds secured by col
lateral advanced from 84 to 9 pei
cent on industrial stocks and bonds,
while "mixed" loans were Yi to a full
1 per cent for the same maturities.
Longer maturities were a Yt per
cent above last Friday's quotations
at and 9 per cent.
