Hayden Omaha, Neb., May 21st, 1920. That the people of Omaha and vicinity, are interested in a solution of the cost of living problem along fundamental and permanent lines is shown by the many personal, tele phone and mail communications that have come to Hayden 's as a result of the "Business Talks" already printed in this column. v I have the privilege of reproducing the following letter: FRANK J. CARET CARET CLEANING COMPART 2401 North Twenty-fourth St. Webster 898 Thirty-seTen Tears In Omaha" May 19, 1920 Mr. J. Hayden, City Dear Mr. Hayden: It was with no small degree of pride I read your letter in today's paper. It was a similar letter I read two years ago which got me to put my business on a cash basis and keep It there. The "Cash and Carry" principle was right and is right During the past two years we have effected a saving of nearly $2,000 in our home by cash buying. Today I bought an article in your store at the regular price, which could not be duplicated In Omaha for less than double. Another thing, when department stores throughout the country closed down their grocery departments, Hayden's kept theirs going. I believe we can thank you for retailing groceries of quality at the lowest prices In the country at least, a farmer told me he could do better at Hayden's than In Chicago. I will look forward for your letters and it would not be amiss to state that your prices are not only right now, but they have been right, right along, and I can speak both as a cus tomer and an employer and as an impartial one expecting no favors and granting none. .With best personal regards, I am, Yours truly, FRANK CARET Many of those who read the "Talk" printed in yester day's paper were surprised at the immense saving in Hayden's through the adoption of the cash plan. Mr. Carey gives us the other side of the reform. ' Don't forget that that is just what the cash plan is one of the biggest reforms in the commercial world. An annual saving of $1,000 in a single family through the adoption for itself of the cash plan is a good showing and provides a hint for others. It is Hayden's hope that during these agitated days it may be able through these "Business Talks" and over the counters of its establishment to so demonstrate the advant ages of the oash plan, that the reform will be adopted by many families who have lost much more than they ever dreamed of through the cumbersome credit system.
