Los Angeles Police Believe
Members of Burglar Gang
Murdered H. J. Robbins
for Shooting of Pal.
Los Angeles, Ca!., May 5 (Spe
cial.) Mrs. Delia Healcy, maid at
the home of J. S. Riley, 446 South
Oxford boulevard, told police here
last night that she heard a man cry
out about 8 p. m. Monday, and when
she looked irom her window saw th
murder of H. J. Robhins, retired
banker of Shelton, Neb.

hay and walk hurriedly away, she
declared.
Harold R. Robbins, youngest son
of the retired financier, was report
ing to the police the fact that his fa
ther was missing when a workman

Robbins left his home at 7:55
Monday night for a short walk in
compliance with instructions from
his physician. His son, who usually
accompanied him, tailed to go along
that night, and Mrs. Robbins told
police she had a premonition that

The latest theory of the authori-

attempt to; avenge the shooting of

ity of the Robbins home recently.
No other motive has been utu
covered by police.
'Robbins had apparently been
beaten over the head and then
choked with a rope.
Beatrice Women to Form
Auxiliary to Legion
Beatrice, Neb., May 5, (Special).
At a meeting of Bitting-Norman
Post, American, Legion, a' commit
tee was appointed to assist the
women in organizing an auxiliary
to the post. All posts in the county
will meet here on May 11, to hear
an address to be given by Mr.
Thompson of Lincoln, on Avar risk
insurance, compensation claims, etc.
O'Neil Woman Weds.
O'Neill. Neb., May 5, (Special).

Thomas Nolan of Bassett, formerly
of O'Neill, were married at St. Pat
rick's church Tuesday morning, the
Rev. M. F. Cassidy officiating. They
will be at home at Bassett, where

tice of law, after their return from
a southern trip.

Lincoln, May 5. (Special.) The
engineering college at the state uni
versity hf Id a special convocation
Tuesday morning when Sigma Tau,
the honorary engineering fraternity,
through its president, H. J. Wing,
presented the college with a bronze
memorial tablet in honor of those
who had been connected with the

Beatrice Woman Gets Divorce.
Beatrice, Neb., May 5, (Special).
Mrs. Lottie Smith of this city was
granted a divorce Tuesday in the
district court from George Smith,
who is serving 90 days in the county
jail on the charge of wife beating.
The Smiths have operated a restaur
ant here for some time.
Beatrice Man Injured
When Automobile Upsets
Beatrice, Neb., May S. (Special.)
Georgo, Phelps, wife and little
child of this city had a close call
frcm death Tuesday evening near
Blue Springs when a wheel of 'the
machine dropped off, causing the car
to overturn. Mrs. Phelps and child
escaped unhurt, but Mr. Fhelps was
caught under the steering wheel and
batliy bruised. They walked to a
farm house to secure help, and when
they returned they found that some
one had stolen the tires from the car,
and the tool kit.
Omaha Man Chosen.
Sidney, Neb., May 5. (Special.)
At a meeting of the local 'school
board Monday night. Martin V.
Dimery, cashier of the American
bank, was chosen to fill the unex
pired term of F. A. Bush whose ab
sence from the city prevented his
serving. Mr. Dimery came to bid

Dies at Home in Kansas
Beatrice, Neb., May 5. (Special.)
Announcement was received here
Tuesday of the death of Mrs. Dexter
Lilly, formerly of this ity, which
occurred at her home at McDonald,
Kan., after a brief illness. She is
survived by her husband and four
