Garrett, candidate for the representation of the Fourth precinct of the Tenth ward in the democratic county convention to be held here on May 11, yesterday ad mitted that she had probably been defeated by Arthur F. Mullen, demo cratic national committeeman. She would not concede defeat, however, until the official canvass is made. Mr. Mullen would not comment on his victory. Mass., talk on "Christian Science," Its Naturalness, Simplicity and Practicality." Christian Science, Mr. Lathrop says, goes to the root of evil or sin and finds it to be only the imper sonal and false claim that there is a power apart from God, good. "Overall Clubs" Started ' By High School Students Principal Dwight E. Fortcr of the High . School of Commerce an nounced yesterday that he will per mit. the students to form an "Overall club." Masonic Service is Observed at Funeral Of Dr. Henry Akin Masonic services were held at fhf funeral of , Dr. Henry Akin, 1028 South Thirty-firjit street, prominent Omaha physician, at the c-hapcl at Forest Lawn cemetery Thursday afternoon A- body of Dr. Akin's associates in the Masonic order paid final tribute as the body was being low ered into the grave. Dr. Robert Leavens of the First Unitarian church officiated. Harry Faston and Kendall Hammond, rep resenting the American Legion, of which Dr. Akin had been a member, were present. Inspector Fires Policeman For Sleeping on His Post Policeman Joseph Trummer, 912 Homer street was dismissed frqm the police department yesterday afternoon by Inspector Andrew Pat tullo for sleeping on his post while on duty. ' Chief of Police Eberstein said Trummer had been on the "carpet" before for the same offense.
