Data beam ing on problems of the shipping board in its operation of and dis position to private ownership of the government's merchant marine was submitted today to business men of the country and chairmen of con gressional committees who began a two 'days' conference . here with members of the board. Two former chairmen of the boardj Secretary of Interior Payne and Edward N. Hurley of Chicago, were among those present. The men advising with the board represent the country's greatest commercial and industrial interests. Particular importance attaches to the point of view of the leaders of industries in the middle west, of ficials of the board declared. There people have been accustomed to think in terms .of ships, and it is especially desired that they be awak ened to. the necessity for an Amer ican merchant marine to transport the nation's commerce. Police today were searching for five older boys who last evening attacked Charles Kneller, a 10-year-old news boy, bound him to a stake, pjled kindling and papers about him and, after starting a fire, left him to his fate. A small girl reported the incident to Mrs. A. F. Mowery, living nearby, and she rescued the boy( who was badly burfied. Judge F. ,M. Acton of the juvenile court is making an investigation of the matter. Commerce Pupils to Make ( Trip to Lincoln April 30 The annual educational trip to Lincoln by the students of the High School of Commerce will take place April 30, B.
