Cobbey Chosen Head of Movement in Doug las County Last Sessions Held in State Drive. The Interchurch World Movement county conferences, which have been in progress in every county in Ne braska during the week, closed yes terday with meetings in Omaha and in 20 other counties in the state. In terchurch officials at headquarters in Omaha and Lincoln say reports indi cate the conferences were well at tended everywhere. The Douglas county convention opened Friday morning 'at the First Presbyterian church with rep resentatives present from .about a dozen denominations of the city. The morning address was made by Dr. C. C. Gratz of St. Pauls Meth odist church of Lincoln, introduced by Rev. C. E. Cobbey, chairman. Pleads for Support. Dr. Gratz gave a vigorous plea for support for the Interchurch Movement, which he declared was putting the church on the basis of big business. The church, he said, has been singing, "Hear the pennies dropping" and has failed to meas ure up to the obligations imposed by new conditions. At the afternoon session ad d;csses on different phases of the movement were made by Dr. L. D. Young' of Lincoln and Rev. C. E. Cobbey of Omaha. The evening session was given over largely to a stereopticon lecture, setting forth in graphic form some of the find ings of the worldwide survey. Permanent Organization. In the afternoon the permanent organization of the Interchurch World Movement for Douglas county was perfected. This or ganization is not connected with the financial drive which comes the last cf the month, but is to conduct a year-round work of education and leadership along the lines of mis sionary education, stewardship and Christian service. The officers chosen are as follows: Chairman, Rev. C. E. Cobbey; vice chairman, Rev. Arthur Atack; chair man committee on spiritual re sources, Rev. Howard Whitcomb; chairman . committee on steward ship, Rev. J. D. Kuykendall; chair man committee on missionary edu cation, Rev. J. M. Wilson; chairman committee on life service, George W. Campbell; members of executive committee, Rev. Frank G. Smith, Rev. E. H. Jenks, Rev. A. A. De Lajme, Rev. Titus Lowe, Rev. Wil liam M. Jackson. . County Conferences. Other county conferences yester day were as follows: Otoe county, in Nebraska City; Pawnee county in Pawnee City; Colfax county in Schuyler, Saline county in Crete, Cuming county in West Point, Da kota county in South Sioux City; York county, in York; Seward county, in Seward; Frontier and Perkins county, in Curtis; Kearney county in Minden; Keith and Arthur county, in Ogallala; Cherry county, in Valentine; Grant county, in Hyannis and Holt county in O'Neill. - With the closing of the county conferences, the field department of the Interchurch movement will cease to function temporarily and the financial campaign department will take charge of Interchurch af fairs. Gorman, were lodged in. the city jail yesterday, the first charged with intoxication and resisting an officer, and the latter for reckless driving, resisting an officer, and il legal possession of liquor. Traffic Policeman Farmer sought to arrest the .pair after a collisiion at Twenty-fourth and Harney streets, in which they figured. He ordered young Gorman to drive to the police station, but instead of complying, the man drove to Twenty-fourth and Leavenworth. At that corner Mrs. Gorman came to the assistance of her son and husband, and Farmer was savagely attacked by all. A squad of detectives from Central station were able to prevent the escape of the Gormans. Mrs. Gorman was not arrested because she had a baby, with her. Make Trip to Lincoln. The annual educational trip to Lincoln by students of the High School of Commerce will take place the latter part of this month, B. A. Polzin, head of the history depart ment, announced. Over 450 students and teachers will make the trip. Governor McKelvie will address the students. Police Unsuccessfully Search For Four Missing Pupils Police yesterday unsuccessfully continued the search for Donald Crowell, 14 years old, 2227 Willis avenue, and John Bigley, IS years old, 3315 Ohio street, who have been missing from their homes for three days. Ronold McDonald, IS year old, 2603 Spencer street, and John Hedy, 16 years old, Twenty fifth r.nd Wirt streets, also have been missing from their homes since Sunday. "Women-For-WoocP Club Organized in Omaha Preliminary organization of a "Women-for-Wood" club in Omaha was made yesterday at a luncheon in the Hotel Fontenelle. Mrs. Frank lin D. Smith of Deadwood, S. D., an organizer from the Wood head quarters in Chicago, was present. Miss Caroline Dodge was chosen chairman of a committee to plan a meeting of women at the Rome ho tel next Monday at 4 p. m. Perma nent organization will be effected at that time. Mrs. Smith will remain in Omaha until after the primaries.
