TAKE NO ACTION TO OPEN AURORA BANKING HOUSE Application for Appointment Of Receiver for Wenjz "Company. Will Be - - Heard Monday - Aurora; Neb.; April 2. (Special.) The affairs of the American State bank seem to , remain precisely where they were when the doors of the institution were closed March 15. The state banking . board has Examiner Ross1 Brown : in charge but no step, seems to 'have been taken to pay the depositors or to put the bank in shape " to liquidate or continue its business. An inventory has been taken of the assets of the VvVG Wentz com pany and the attorney of that com- pany announced that his client would shortly announce whether the com pany would be kept going by the addition of new capital, but no an nouncement has been made. Charles W. Went and his father, W. C. jWentz, spend most of their time in the bank and have repeatedly stated that they will be ready to resume business in a few days. B. W. Springer of California is in Aurora for a conference with Charles W. Wentz. Springer sold his farm near town for $51,000 and left the money with the Wentz com pany for investment. Notes and an iverdraft were paid and Springer now has a credit of $42,000 with the Wentz company. The application for the appoint ment of a receiver for the Wentz company will be heard by Judge E. E. Good in Wahoo next Monday. It ' is . anticipated here that the state banking board will' shortly ask for the appointment of a receiver for the American State bank. Would Deport Wet Governors With Reds New York Times-Chicago Tribune Cable, Copyright, 10. New York, April 2. William Allen White says that if the middle west provides the next president of the United States, the new presi dent will appoint an attorney gen eral who will see that Gov. Alfred E. Smith, Gov. Edward I. Edwards of New Jersey and William Barnes, the Albany political leader, are packed aboard a soviet ark and shipped out of the country, banished to the Isle of Champagne. "It would have been an entirely justifiable act if Barnes, Smith and Edwards had been shipped out of the country on the 'ark' with Berk man and Goldman," said Mr. White to a reporter at the National Arts club in Gramercy park tonight. The Kansan's observation con cerning the wet governors and the "wet" leader of Albany was prompt ed by the attitude those gentleman have assumed toward the 18th amendment, which Mr. White Says is just as much a part of the consti tution as the 14th amendment and as worthy of respect, Chicagoan Forgives Runaway Wife and Two Extra Children Chicago Tribune-Omaha Bee Leased Wire.
