Charles street, formerly a clerk in
the county treasurer's ofhee and
later employed in the Armour &
Co, offices, died at the Ford hos
pital Thursday morning as a. result
of being struck by a truck late
Wednesday as he was crossing
South Twenty-eighth and Q streets
to take a car. v
According to witnesses. Mackin
failed to sec the truck, driven by
Frank J. Saes, 4223 South Nine
teenth street. Two wheels passed
over his bodv. lie suffered a broken
left ankle, hemorrhage of the brain
ana internal injuries, xic uicu mm
out gaining consciousness.
Sanes was arrested, being later
released on a cash bond. He drives
for the Omaha Gas company.
Here 30 Years.
Mr. Mackin had been a resident
of Omaha for 30 years, coming here
from Sharon, Penn. He was born
in Dundalk, Ire'land and came to
America in his early youth. He was
in the retail grocery business for
many years, then took a position in
the county treasurer's office. Later
he entered the employ of the
Armour company, South Side.
He is survived by his widow and
six daughters, Helen, Clair, and
Marie, of Omaha; Eugenie of Chi
cago, Agnes of Larimie, Wyo., and
Ruth of Detroit, and one Son, Paul
J. of Omaha.
Funeral services will be held,
Saturday morning at the residence
and 'at St. . Cecilia's church at 9.
Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre
cemetery.
