" Pimples, sores and boils usually result from toxins, poisons and im purities which are generated in the bowels and then absorbed into the blood through the very ducts which should absorb only nourishment to sustain the body. It is the function of the kidneys to filter impurities from the blood . and cast them out in the form of urine, but in many instances the bowels create more toxins and im purities than the kidneys can elimi nate, then the blood uses the skin pores as the next best means of get ting rid of these impurities which often break out all over the skin in the form of pimples. The surest way to clear the skin of these eruptions, says a noted au thority, is to get from any pharmacy about four ounces of J ad Salts and take a tablespoonful in a glass of hot water each morning before breakfast for one week. This will prevent the formation of toxins in tfce bowels. It also stimulates the kidneys to normal activity, thus coasting them to filter the .blood of impurities and clearing the skin of pimples. Jad Salts Is inexpensive, harmless and is made from the acid of grapes and lemon juice, combined with lithia. Here you have a pleasant, ef fervescent drink - which -usually makes pimples disappear; cleanses the blood and is excellent for the kidneys as well. 1 Sore!-throat Mav lead to worse 3 A.U M E -ANALGIiSIQUE -SENGUfi V: used in time r,:ay ; avoid severe ill ness. A fall from a chair in which she was sit ting resulted fatally to little Sylvia Kershner, the 3-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Manford Kershner, the other day. The child in falling struck on her head and broke a blood vessel, dying a few minutes later. My HEART and My HUSBAND Adele Garrison's New Phase of - Revelations ofaWift How Hoi. Madge Brought Alice Combe Calmness. Alice Holcocnbe must have been watching for me from her window, for as I drew, my car up to the curb in front of her home the front door opened and she rushed down the walk. Her surprise at seeing me pilot the car evidently drove from her mind for the moment the things for 'which she had summoned me. "Oh. what a surprise!" she ex claimed, her face and eyes showing a trace of the animation which had been hers when I first knew her, and which she seemed to have ut terly lost since the tragedy which had fallen : athwart Kenneth Stock bridge's life. "When' did you learn? Is it your car?" I countered with another ques tion. "Are you ready to go for a cup of tea? I'll answer all questions on the road?' "Just let me get my coat," she said, and . without further parley went back to the veranda, caught up a light pongee coat, slipped it en as she came back down the walk and was in the car as she fastened the last button. I noticed that she held a small brown paper parcel fastened with rubber bands, and that she carefully transferred it from one hand to an other as she fastened her coat. She held it tightly in her hands as she sat by my side, and I didn't need to have a Sherlock Holmes brain to deduce that the packet had some thing to do with the reason for her urgent wish to see me. I carefully avoided all reference to it, however, and occupied the time between our start and our arrival at the secluded little tea room I had picked out, with an account of my motor experiences. I tried to make them as humorous as I knew, how. judging that my friend would be much the better for a little distrac tion from the burden weighing upon her,, and was rewarded by an occa sional low laugh from her. .' Overtaxed Nerves. But when we had reached the little tea room, which was in reality iust the "parlor" and tile small screened veranaa ot a house owned by- a wid owed gentlewoman who added to her slender income by her knack of brewing delicious tea and baking toothsome cakes, the hunted, strained look was still in evidence upon her face. Are you sure we can talk safe ly here?" she whispered, when the hostess1 of the tea room had taken our order and departed. . Where more safely? I reolied encouragingly. "See we are seated in this farthest corner from the door and there are no windows on this side. There's no possible chance of anyone coming! behind us without seeing them, and we are screened from the street. Besides, there is almost always no one here at this time. A half hour later the olace will be filled, but we must be gone be fore then." "But I haVe some things to show you. she protested. That doesn t matter, I explained patiently. "You need not bring them out until after Mrs. Wynne has served our tea and cakes. That will be her last appearance unless a cus tomer comes in, and we shall have ample notice of that as our seats command a view of the only path. Come, dear, trust me and relax a little. You are tinder a terrible ten sion. You are going to snap like an over-wound watch spring if you keep this up. What She Needed. Her eyes filled with tears which she winked back resolutely. But the very sight of them alarmed me, for Alice Holcombe and the weakness of tearswere two utterly incongru ous things. "I I know it," she said pitifully. "But I I can't help It." "Yes, you can," I made my voice authoritatively unsympathetic, in stinct telling me that she needed a firm hand more than anything else. "You're going to let me take charge of you for the next hour and I am going to insist that you obey me ab solutely. In the first place, let me put that packet into my bag. The very handling of it Is making you nervous. There' I took it from her trembling fingers, slipped it into my bag and hung the bag over my arm. "It i perfectly safe. Now forget it until we have had our tea. I'm awfully thirsty. We had broiled sausages for lunch in the woods to day and I could dring any kind of beverage. Did you ever broil sau sages over a campfire?" - "No," she answered, evidently speaking with difficulty, but making a Drave ettort to conquer ner emo tions. "Tell me about it" I strung out my account of our picnic luncheon and campfire -until Mrs. Wynne came out with the tea tray. I presided over the cups with a martinet eye upon my friend, see ing that she drank several cups of the fragrant steaming beverage and ate her share of the cakes. With a little' inward glow of satisfaction, I saw that while she was still agi tated, yet she was in far better shape to discuss the things which worried her than ahe had been before. When we had finished, and I had flushed the tea tray to one side. I Brief City News Have Root Print It Beacon Press. Library & Silk Shade Lamps! 25 pet redu'n. Burgess-Granden Co. Adv.
