Add $100,000 to the
; Wealth of Nebraska
Members of Nebraska boys' and
girls' clubs added approximately
1100,000 to the wealth of the state
last year, according to a report of
the college of agriculture of the
University of Nebraska Extension
Service.
The extension service organized
nearly '12,000 boys and girls into
garden, corn, potato, canning, pig,
poultry, garment, sewing, cooking,
rabbit and other clubs. , The total
value of their products was $98,.
807.64.
The cost of production, wages,
rent, seed, etc., was $50,077.03. This
left a net profit of $47,829.61 for the
boys and-girls, in addition to their
wages and education. The most
popular club was the garden,' with
an enrollment of 2,296 and oroducts
worth $28,138.37, ' r -
The pig club, with but 771 mem
bers, fell little below the garden
growers, having products at $27(1
569.50 Poultry, canning and cook
ing clubs each valued their work at
more than $11,000.
