Making Up the Eye Lashes and
Eye Brows.
Do not attempt to make up the
eyes until every particle of pow
der has been brushed out of the
brows and lashes.
If Ijy any chance the powder and
grease have clung to the brows,
making them caked use a bit of
witch hazel on a soft camel's-hair
brush and brush them lightly. This
will take out oil and powder.
Eye black is an important factor
in making up. The smallest, most
unattractive eyes can be made love
ly by the careful use of the right
kind, of cosmetique.
Buy a black grease paint that you
are certain is pure to use on the
eyelashes. The hard cakes of black
and brown that must be wet before
the brush is applied, break and bun

That Thought is King.
So desperate I grew

My thoughts

Crazed and frantic
I broke their bars
Flew into temper

hard cakes, with the small camels
hair brush inside. Or it can be
bought in sticks, wrapped in tin
foil. The handiest way to keep it is to
break up the stick of eye grease and
jam it down into a small round
box, kneading it till it is soft and
smooth on top.
If you prefer a brush with which
to apply the black, WASH IT
EVERY TIME you use it. This
is essential.
Some prefer the orangewood
stick with which to apply the black
to the lashes. If you use a brush
half close the eye and brush the up
per lashes with an upward move
ment. This will make them grow, just
as brushing the hair helps it. It
will also give the lashes a slight
curl, which is most becoming.
Do not neglect to use the brush
on the top of the upper eyelashes,
especially if you have brown lashes
and are using black paint to make
your eyes look larger.
If the lower lash is of light
growth and too short to brush use
the orangewood stick upon them.
Do not use the black line at the
corner of the eyes, draw back to
ward the hair, to enlarge them. This
is all right upon the stage, but it
looks affected and cheap on the
street.

The Old Home Road.
I took the road again last night,
On which my boyhoods hills look
' down;
The old road leading from the town,
The village there below the height.
Its cottages homes, all huddled
browiv
Each with its blur of light.
The old road, full of ruts, that leads,
A vinding streak of limestone-gray,
Over the hills and far away;
That crowded here by arms of weeds
And elbows of rail-fence, asway
With flowers that no one heeds:
The cricket and the katydid
Pierced silence with their stinging
sounds;
The firefly went its golden rounds,
Where, lifting slow one sleepy lid,
The baby rosebud dreamed; and
mounds
Of lilies breathed half-hid.

Dear Miss Fairfax, Omaha Bee: I
have written you before and have
not seen my letter in print
NOW. there will ba a. manic hull

not for any tatue. I wan to run
around and dance. I am a girl, 16
years of age. What would you Bug
gest ror me to dress as? I do not
care to get a prize, but I Just will

If you know of anvthinsr I could

ior your aavice.
There is a certain boy I would like
to be friends with. We know each
other and speak to each other, but
no aoes not aance with me. Do
you think it would be proper for me
to choose him for ladies' choice, for
k is Jeap year
Thanking you in advance. I would
like to see my letter and answer in
Friday's Bee, please, I remain your
reaaer, AUSS WORRIED.
Mask as the Spanish senorita or
the Indian girl, if you want to run
around. It seems to me that If the
boy cared anything about you he
would ask you to dance. However,
this Is leap year, and if you care to
take advantage of it, I have no ob

Dear Miss Fairfax, Omaha Bee:
This is not the first time I have
written you, but the fourth, and as
heretofore your advice has been
irood, so come before you asaln
There are several questions I want
to ask you, so will name them:
1. When a youne man comes to
your home and comes in and sits
down for a while, should the girl be
the first to suggest going to the
show, as he had already asked me to
go to the show that is, he had
asked to take me to the show earlier
in the day?
2. How long should you go with
a man before you allow him to kiss
you? Now, I can hear you say
right here, "Never," but. Miss Fair
fax, tell me how many girls go with
one fellow and not let him kiss her?
I know it should not be and I don't
really believe in kissing, but don't
you get Just a little lonesome for
some one to love you?
Please publish this before long,
as I'm rather anxious to know. Love
to you, DIXIE.
The young man should suggest go
ing to a show unless you had for
merly decided to go out. In that
case you dress for the street and
the young man will be fully aware
that you expect him to keep the en
gagement. Personally I have no objection to
your kissing young men the first
time you meet them on' the street,
in the theater, in public I only
state that it is dangerous and the re
sults are often tragic.

Dear Miss Fairfax, Omaha Bee: I

P. S. Do you know what S. A. G.
means?
I see no harm in going to dances
with your brother. Indeed, Just be
cause you are engaged Is no reason
for becoming a recluse. Whether or
not you should accept Invitations
from boy friends depends upon what
the understanding Is between you
and your fiance. He will be away
at school for some time, perhaps,
and may go out with other girls Just
to break the monotony. This is no
indication that he is untrue to you,
or that you accepting invitations
from friends would mean that you
were untrue to him providing, of
course, that you two come to such
an understanding.

Dear Miss Fairfax, Omaha Bee:
Having read your column for some
time and being in need of advice, I
turn to you.
.Last summer I went with a very
nice boy, four years older than my
self, - who seemed to like me very
much. He was very attentive for
several months, but suddenly be
came cool, and after that I have not
heard from him at all. I did not
know it then, but do now, but
love that boy dearly. No one else
seems to fill his place. What do you
think? Flease advise me.
I have always behaved properly
to him and he to me. I cannot
imagine what is the matter. I have
kept thinking he would come back
to me, but now I am losing hope.

Be natural. If you have anything
