BBBMaaaaaaaasa
Detectives Paul Sutton and L
H. Stoley Accused of In
competency and Conduct
Unbecoming Officers.
Charges against Detectives 'Paul
B. Sutton and L. II. Stoley, alleg
ing incompetency and conduct un
becoming police officers, were filed
with Mayor . Smith by Chief of
Police Eberstein on the return of
Police Commissioner Ringer .' to
Omaha Friday morning.
A few days ago the chief stated
that he would not file the charges
until the return of Mr. Ringer from
the east.
The charges will go to thj city
council next Tuesday morning,
when a time will be set for hearings.
Neither of the accused officers
have indicated that they will resign
rather than face the charges which
were made in connection with their
visit to the home ofNels A. Neh
leen, 3523 Patrick avenue, 10 days
ago. '
"My recomme.Jation will be that
these officers should be dismissed
from the service," the chief replied
to a qustion, "although I am of the
opinion that Sutton was the leader
in what occurred at the Nehleen
home." -
r "Chief Eberstein lias told -me of
the Sutton-Stoley affair and all I
care to say at this time, is that I
will stand by whatever the chief
recommends," Mr. Ringer said.
Heretofore Commissioner Ringer
has used all his influence in council
to protect accused policemen and
particularly Detective Sutton, and'
other members of the former morals ;
squad.
