The announcement of the mar
riage of Mrs. Mary L. Lethermau
of Philadelphia and Mr. J. H. Best
of Baltimore, formerly of Omaha,
has just arrived here. The ceremony
took place 'November 1 at Toledo,
O. They will reside in Baltimore.

Officers'; club at 1'ort Omaha in

ored at a birthday party given De

Trinity Church Sale. , ,
The Parish Aid society of, Trinity
cathedral will hold its annual Christ
mas sale in rooms A. B and C, mez
zanine floor of the Fontenelle hotel,
from 10 to 4 o'clock on Tuesday,
December 9. The place of holding
this sale has had to be changed to
the Fontenelle hotel on account of
the fuel situation.

Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Kountze will
entertain at supper at. their home
Sunday evening in honor of Mrs.
William Bethell, who is visiting
Mrs. George Prinz. ,Mrs. Luther
Kountze will give a luncheon Mon
day for this visitor. ,

Mrs. and Mrs. Louis Clarke en

Saturday evening in honor of Mrs.
Lyman Spitzer of Toledo, O.. who
is visiting at the Barton Millard
home. Pink chrysanthemums were
used to form the centerpiece. The
guests included Messrs and Mes
dames John Kedick, George Redick,
Barton Millard, Walter Roberts and
Mr. Marcus Curran.
Bridge Luncheon Club.
A bridge luncheon club was
formed Thursday and held the first
meeting at the home of Miss Geral
dine and Miss Beatrice Johnson. The
members of the club include Mrs.
Lyle Rushton, Mrs. Robert Reason
ed Mrs. Wyman Robbins, Mrs.
Wayne Selby, Miss Mildred
Rhodes and Miss Stella Robinson.

The Omaha Woman's Tress club
will be entertained at a tea Wed
nesday afternoon at 4 o'clock at
the home of Miss Ruth Mills. Mrs.
Keene Abbott will read her prize

Optomism is the slogan of the en
ergetic matrons who are doing the
committee work for the Christmas
ballet to be presented by Miss
Pleasant Holyoke on the evening cf
December 18 at the Brandeis thea
ter. The present shortage of coal has
not lessened their enthusiasm and
they hope that the theater will oe
available on the evening of the 18th;
if not, the ballet will be produced
at a later date. Mrs. Myron Learned
has completed an appealing theme,
which Mrs. Hr.rry Doorly will read.
Mrs. Franklin Shotwell will read
James Whitcomb Riley's favorite
Christmas poem and Miss Flavia
Waters of Lincoln, who dances in
solo work with Miss Holyoke, has
a new and novel dance.
Mrs. J. E. Fitzgerald and Mra.
George Redick head the ticket com
mittee.,. Mrs. F. I. Ellick and Mrs.
T. M. Finney have charge of the
costumes and Mrs Charles Kountze
is treasurer.

The regular monthly meeting of
the Omaha Guardian association
was held Thursday afternoon at the
Rome hotel. The annual election
of officers took place at this meet
ing and the following were elected:
Chairman, Miss Bertha Vaughan;
vice chairman, Mrs. Gladys Hoyt;
secretary, Mrs. Mildred Hamilton,
and treasurer. Miss Ruth Bracken.
A very enthusiastic "sing" was
held at the Community house on
Saturday, when the girls practiced
their. Christmas carols. After the
sing" the girls listened to a short
talk by Dr. Amanda Bray.
Campfire groups who have not
turned in the red stockings for the
children of devastated France are
urged to do so at once.
lhe Minnehaha group, with Miss
Mary Louise Guy acting as guard
ian, .held a business meeting at the
home of Eleanor Ritchie Wednes
day afternoon.
The Wobigoon group met at the
home of their guardian, Mrs. Au
gust Paulson, Tuesday afternoon
end checked up honors and turned in
their Christmas stockings.
The'Lexse group, with Miss Guy
acting as guardian, met at the home
of Mildred Flannigan and wrote
Hospital letters to tneir guardian,
Miss Bernice Huxton, who is ill.
The Canwaste group (Road of the
Loving Heart) held a meeting Monj

Mrs. C. R. Hamilton. Plans for a
coasting party were made at this
time. These girls are working for
the Red Cross Christmas seals and
have 'received many orders.
Miss Mabel Rasmussen's group,
Wahuwasti, met Friday at the home
of Lucile Brown to dress dolls and
make scrap books for the Orphan
age for Christmas.

and dressed dolls and made scrap

pitals. The Ocowasin group with Mrs.

ing bee at the home of Dorothy
Williams. They are dressing dolls
and making scrap books for the chil
dren for Christmas. This group
rilled a lovely basket for a needy
family at Thanksgiving.
The Akita group (Seekers), Mrs.
C. J. Hubbard, guardian, will hold a
council fire Monday at the home of
Mrs. C. R. Hamilton. Elizabeth
Patton will receive honors.
The Raosu group, Miss Ruth Pe
terson, guardian, are planning to
give a Christmas dinner to a needy
family. Their last meeting was held
at the home of Cornelia Gilbert,
when two new girls ,were voted on.

One of Omaha's most attractive
school girls who will return home
for the holidays is Miss Emily
Burke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.
L. Burke. She is a junior at Vassar
college. It is expected that Miss
Burke will arrive December 20. Her
brother, Edward Burke, jr., is now a
sophomore at the Taft preparatory
school at Watertown, Conn. It is
probable that he will return with
his sister. A number of informal
affairs will be given in honor of this
brother and sister.
