Mrs. Lucinda Harris, 106-year-old
negress, who was buried Thursday
in Forest Lawn cemetery.
"Grandma" Harris was well
known among the people of lief ,
race. She lived 35 years in Omaha,
and during all. of those years she
was a member of St. John s Metho
dist Episcopal church. Her faith in
religion endured-even after she wal
stricken ))lind 10 years ago.;
- She lived at the home of her only
daughter, Helen Jenkins, 2232 Sew
ard street, where she died of senil
ity. A son, Charles Harris, came
from Chicago to attend the funeral.

children, five greatgrandchildren
and one great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Harris was born in "Old
Kentucky" during 1813.' She wasa
slave for many years and liv'ed in
Missouri before she came to Omaha
in 1884.
The funeral was attended - by
many friends and acquaintances
who had known this 'venerable wo
man and had been impressed by
her quaint words of wisdom and
advice.
Stewed Octopus Placed On
Sale In New Yorfc Grocsnes
New York, Nov. 28. Octopus"
flesh is the latest on New York's
bill of fare to cut living cost. In the
Greek colonies in the -downtown
section of this city, dried octopus is
displayed in the windows of grocery
and. delicatessen shops, and finds
ready buyers among the Greeks,
Italians, Turks and Chinese. The
flesh, retailed at 60 cents a pound,
is declared highly nourishing.
The "devil fish" as displayed in the
windows is a queer looking globular
mass of a lilac or pale purple color.

Stewed, fried and pickled octopus
is on sale at delicatessen stores.
The octopus is caught on the
shores of the Mediterranean. The
"devil fish" is hunted with spear
and net. Sometimes the octopi are
Caught in huge earthen jars, lowered
into the water, and pulled to the
surface when the creatures creep
into the jars as a hiding place.

per publisher filed an answer yes
terday in district court to the pe
tition of his wife, Julia Padrnos,' for
a divorce. He denie her charges
of cruelty and charges that she has "
circulated false reports of his al
leged violence and that she inter
fered with his business. He asks '
for a divorce and custody of their
two children.
