V five Chinese Gamblers Taken in Raid Fined; 10 Others Discharged Central police court yesterday dis played scene more likened to a signing 0f a treaty of peace follow ing a Chinese tong war than the mere recital of facts concerning a raid upon the headquarters of the local Chinese merchants' associa tion. Five Chinamen were fined for gambling and 10 others discharged when four detectives, who arrested ' the ganjr Wednesday at 122 North Twelfth street, were unable to iden tify specifically! those who were al leged to have been playing "fan-tan." A set of Chinese dominoes and a number of ivory pegs, which the' detectives say were the instruments used in the alleged gambling game, bewildered , the court attendants. Sam ' Gowng, proprietor of ths place, was discharged when Leo Sing, his partner, told the court 1m was in charge of the place, when the raid was made. The following were fined: Leo Sing, $100 and costs; Jim Lee, Turn, Lam, Joe Charlie nd Jun ChinJ, -each $10 and costs. The others wer. discharged.
