Cattle On of the heaviest Thursday's
run of cattle being her this season was
a offer this morning, arrivals amounting
to 18,000 head. Total for the week Is 68,
700 head, which la with one exception the
heaviest ot the season. Desirable beef
was not very plentiful and while the
undertone waa easier on all claasea ot utuff
good to choice killing steers sold nearly
steady. Butcher stock was slow, early
sales being weak with the tendency
lower. Lack of country outlet for stockers
and feeders yesterday left the yards full
of cattla and thla morning demand waa
very restricted and movement extremely
dull at prices 25o and more lower than
yesterday, and fully (076o lower than
Monday.
For the week anythtng desirable In
the beef line is selling fully steady, some
of the corn-feds being a little stronger If
anything. While choice cows are a little
higher, canners are fully atesdy and mo
ilium grades looked a little i lower If any
thing. Practically all classes of storkcre
Snd feeders are sharply lower than Mon
ay, with the exception of the choice
heavy steers on which country buyer
had packing competition.

Chicago Grain and Provisions. ' !
Chicago, Oct. 28. Nervousness and low.
er price - characterised th corn market
most of the tlm today, chiefly owing to
the complicated industrial outlook. The
close wast unsteady, c neS lower to lo
advance, wnn urcemoer I1.ZI4.91.I4V
and May 11.22 01. 22, Oats finished
71 c io nc a own ana provisions varying
from 12o decline to a rise of 60&
Although buying on the part of trong
commission houses rallied the corn mar
ket from an Initial break, the announce
ment that the Industrial conference as
firs: constituted had quit and the mine
worker had refused Secretary Wilson's
strike settlement proposal led to a renewal
of depression. Weakness of the ' etoek
market was also made much of a bearish
factor. On the other hand, knowledge
that hog prices had recovered from a fresh
setback pf 25040c had a tendency to dis
turb short sellers ef corn. Beside there
was continued evldenoe of determination
among farmers and interior owner hot
to sacrifice holdings.
Oata averaged lower with corn. Beside
the longshoremen's strike interfered some
what with seaboard demand,
Packers' buying cave a general upward
slant to provisions. The buying was said
to be based on expectation that hog re
ceipts would be curtailed owing to the re
cent big shrinkage of value.
