14 THE BEE: OMAHA, WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 22, 1919. r- V c V 5 7? It": Will Hundreds off Thdosaeds off People jto Omaha The business and professional men of Omaha have it 1 within their power to build an attraction which will bring hundreds of thousands of people to Omaha annually. A conservative estimate of the number of people which the Ak-Sar-Ben Exposition will bring to the city the first year it is running is 300,000. From year to year this figure will grow till the 500,000 mark is passed. The million mark is a possibility. Just think what it, will mean to you and every resident of Omaha to have from $3,000,000 to $10,000,000 worth of outside money brought into-our city annually. , If Des Moines attracts 400,000 people, Mf St. Paul at tracts 600,000 people, if Dallas attracts 800,000 people and if Toronto attracts 1,250,000 people, make your own esti mate of the number Omaha will attract. .And remember that the Ak-Sar-Ben Exposition will not be used just one week a year, but will be an all-year-round proposition. THE ATTRACTIONS Aerial Carnivals There are thousands upon thousands of people in Omaha trade territory who would like to see Locklear perform his hair-raising exploits, his death-defying leaps from plane to plane in mid-air, but there is no place to stage the per formance. A 4 .. Fireworks Displays Other cities can see (the mammoth pyrotechnic displays, reproducing the big battles of the great war, but Omaha is deprived of this amusement. '. -Auto Races Omaha auto fans can read about the big auto derbies in other parts of the country, -or they-can travel to see them, at great expense. Why not have these things at hornet I liv Stock Shows Chicago, Denver, Kansas, City, and other stock;centers are helping to build up the interest of live, stock breeders in their mar. kets. The new exposition will enable Omaha to take . eare : of the biggest industry in her trade territory. ' ' Frontier Days Stunts may come and stunts may go, but the thrill of a Frontier Divs celebra- , tion will always remain. Why should we have to travel hundreds of miles to enjoy themt Baseball Games It was recently necessary to make use of Fontenelle Park to stage an inter-city baseball game. This will not be. the case when the Ak-Sar-Ben grounds are completed. Football Games Every time Omaha has a big football game it costs thousands of dollars to build temporary bleachers to seat the crowds. The new , Ak-Sar-Ben grandstand will save Omaha enough money to pay the interest on the investment. Band Concerts Would you not like to live in a city where big band" concerts and famous ' opera singers could give open air concerts at popular prices in the summer time? ' . Olympic Games There is to be a great revival of interest in Olympic games. Why should not Omaha be in a position to participate in the inter national sporjfeing events which are to be one of . the amusement features , of the not far-distant future t S . " Historical Pageants Nebraska is beginning to realize that it has a history. Other cities put oa very successful historical pageants, which are en tertaining, instructive and profitable. Let's have them in Omaha. Folk Dancing Why should it be necessary for us to be satisfied with newspaper and magazine pic tures of folk dancingt Why not have the real thing right here in Omaha t ' Industrial Expositions Omaha and Nebraska should be better acquainted with the products which are manufactured and sold by local institutions. The Ak-Sar-Ben Exposition will enable the mercan tile houses of this section to display their wares to hundreds of thousands of people at a minimum of expense. Winter Sports Carnivals There are many win ter sports which can be revived in Omaha when the facilities which the Ak-Sar-Beu Exposition will afford are available.' . Encampments If the American Legion wishes to hold a state, interstate, or national encampment, Omaha can entertain them if we have the Ak-Sar-Ben Exposition grounds. ' ' N Auto, Implement and Tractor Shows Our'Audi torium is not large enough to accommodate our big industrial shows. When the Ak-Sar-Ben Exposition grounds are completed we will be able to handle al ' big "propositions of this sort in the right way.
