" " The greatest life insurance meet' 'i' Ing of. the year closed in 'Omaha Friday at noon. ' . v . " ' It was the 14th annual meeting . of the American Life convention. This organization is composed of VI 19 legal reserve, or "old line" life insurance companies domiciled .in . -36 states. ; . ' v The attendance of company and delegate members at the Omaha meeting broke all previous records. - The attendance of non-member companies and non-member guests was very much larger than at any v preceding session of the organiza tion.' - ,'' ; : The next meeting will be held in Kansas City, Mo., but the head , quarters of this very important, life insurance organization remain in -' Omaha as heretofore since ' its birth; "Impressed With Omaha. Many notable life insurance men 'ifrom all carts of the union saw . Omaha for the first time. It is,. gratifying to the people of this city to have been universally commend ed, by the visitors. They went C away sounding high pause of all the local arrangements for enter tainment Omaha was placed upon the life insurance map the past week, in ai .manner which is of utmost impor tance for her future. Life insur ance companies are ,the largest in vestors in farm and city mortgages and municipal and other securities. (These executives had their eyes opened to the present prosperity ' of the middle west and of Omaha herself as never before. s Inasmuch as many millions of assets were represented during the "week ; in Omaha, bankers, invest- ment companies, Chamber of. Com merce, Omaha Bar association, and - Omaha Life Underwriters associa tion participated in all the public l functions and special entertain- , ments. There were about 35 women In the party who were made especially welcome by the Qmaha women whose husbands are identi fied with life insurance. ' ' The Omaha Members. The Omaha members of this or ganization for protecting . policy holders and companies are the Bankers Reserve Life Insurance - company the , Commonwealth Life Insurance company; the North American Life 'Insurance company, and the Prairie Life Insurance com- - pany. Devlin claims a search ... of his home without a warrant by 'Officer Felix Dolan and another po liceman in a -petition for $15,000 damages against Michael'Saba, for alleged false arrest, filed in district court -:f': , - v . ; Devlin lives at 1021 South T.wen- y-second street Saba lives at 1103 South Twenty-second street June 11, while Devlin. was painting :,he Mon-Yen-Lo , afe,s 1508 - Howard street, he was arrested on complaint oiSaba, he says, and lodged in jail . for eight hours. Saba charged him ' .with stealing some white lead. White he was in jail, he says, Dolan and another officer went to his home and, without a "warrant, searched it for the white lead. The search so terrorized, his wife, Devlin says, that she. suffered a nerve-us collapse. ... Doctors Sued for $25,000 : , Dkmages by Woman Patient Melissa E. Nelson vesterdav filed , suit in district court ,v. for $25,000 ' damages against vDr." Arthur : C. Bunce and Dr. Edwin C Henry. She alleges - that on November 16. ' 1912, Dr. Bunce examined her and ,told hei she, must have an opera tion for appendicitis. - He said he . was no surgeon but recommended - Dr. Henry. She says she was re moved to a hospital, but that when she was under the anesthetic. Dr. Henry permitted Dr. Bunce to op- crate and that' he carelessly cut out her appendix ; . i-. The first suit was filed June 1; 1916, against the physicians. It was v tried and a verdict returned for the physicians February; 1, 1917..
