Corn bulaed In nrlcn today, despite a weak start The upturn was due to shorts taking fright over scantlnesa of rccepta and of offerings. Notice that both E. H. The market closed strong, lc to 6 Vic net higher, with De cember $1.28 to $1.28 and May $1.25 to $1.85. Oats finished c to c up, and provisions, varied from 2o decline 10 rou auvauce. Misgivings on the part of shorts In the corn trade were emphasized by assertions m some quarters tnat iarm commodities had of la,te dropped to a point probably below the real cost of production. Shorts who tried to cover found offerings light and the market ran up sharply, Septem ber In particular, during the rush that ensued to close out open trades. It was much later Before announcement was made of senate plans In regard to a strike hearing, but the effect was evident In the Increased strength of the market at the last. Early weakness was as cribed chiefly to overnight developments at the various strike centers. Oats merely paralleled the action of corn. provisions were ruiea oy grain. Art I Open. I High.
