Colorado Springs, Colo., Aug. 27. Be cause of a limited supply of petroleum wi the United States, refiners have been forced to produce a lower grade of gasoline and automobile manufacturers . must readjust their engines to new specifications, Henry L. Doherty told the representatives of the American petroleum institute at the open ing of their convention here today. Mr. Doherty is chairman of a committee of producers and refinery which is now nego tiating with the automobile makers to ob tain a satisfactory solution to the prolem. He predicted that a satisfactory solution would be found without causing loss in efficiency through the lower grade of fuel.
